It does work but cannot to more than 1 or 2 welds in a row
This does weld batteries but if you try to do more than two welds in a row without waiting a half a minute or more the subsequent welds will be weak.Inconsistent on weld strength. Gear selection is somewhat arbitrary and yields inconsistant welds.

A small but effective battery spot welder great for makers and DIY repair shops
I work on a lot of different electronic projects, and many use the common 18650 rechargeable battery.Until now, I’ve used mainly battery holders which take up space and add to the build budget, but I’ve had my eye on spot welders and just didn’t want to add a large bulky power supply common with these devices. This spot welder solves both of those problems. It allows me to add a simple spot weld to my builds allowing me to have a direct solder point while keeping the allocated space to a minimum for the battery. The unit is also small and self-contained, so I don’t have to add another large component to my build/test bench to have a spot-welding feature. This compact unit also features a rechargeable internal battery making it extremely portable and easy to get into small spaces if needed and weighs in at 4.3oz which is incredible. There are several settings (gears) for the weld, but I’ve just set it to the highest gear and it’s been working awesome. The welds are small but secure and the nickel strips don’t pop off or tear when pressure is applied in an attempt to remove them.A single charge lasts for many welds and there’s a convenient meter built into the unit that shows you the battery charge level along with the weld gear setting. A manual and auto mode is also available, but I’ve left mine on auto and am very satisfied with the outcome thus far.

So much easier to use than the wired version
I use the standard spot welder with the 2 leads that you hold for a while to create li-ion packs. While it works great, its a bit cumbersome to use with those leads. This spot welder can be used one handed, leaving the other hand free to hold the pack still when spot welding. It welds just as good if not better than the wired one I was using, and is quite light too. I've been able to spot weld about 100 cells per charge, which is great for the size of this thing. I'm not sure if the prongs are replaceable if they ever wear out, but I've probably welded well over 1000 cells on my other welder and the prongs are still perfect.
