Informative, but also frustrating
I’ll start with what’s good about this book. It is intensely well researched and written with earnest passion. If you are looking for a book that will educate you on the science and health implications of breathing then this book will tick all the boxes for you. That part rates 5 stars. So why 4 stars? Because there is so much information about the health benefits of better breathing but very few actual exercises to get you there. And I, the reader, experienced them as half-buried in the flow of information. The only organized exercise program the book offers requires using an additional product that you have to buy.The author spends several pages describing the pros of resistance breathing, or ujjayi-breathing, But instead of following that intro with an exercise you can actually do, he tells you that the best way to train for it is with a Relaxator (which you can buy from his website for an additional $35). I’m not arguing that the device isn’t a useful tool. And, later in the book, the author does describe a resistance breathing exercise that does not require a Relaxator. But the only organized bunch of exercises, with photos demonstrating how they are done, are exercises with the Relaxator.I’d read James Nestor’s book, so I was already up to speed on the importance of nasal breathing, and the usefulness of mouth taping (which cured my snoring overnight). So if I hadn’t already known these things, reading about them in Conscious Breathing would have been a revelation. I do have a great admiration for what Anders Olsson has achieved with his book. I just wish there had been a more organized and accessible exercise plan for the breather on a budget.

Three lines of good advice, the rest is filler
3 lines of good advice, the rest is filler. Take your mouth while you sleep, keep your mouth closed while you exercise, inhale then exhale for little bit longer than your inhalation was then take a pause before you inhale again. Oh and inhale from the diaphragm, and the exhalation should be passive and natural. Congrats up now save you some money

The Most Important Book on Breathing
Conscious Breathing by Anders Olsson is by far the most important book on breathing that I've read. He goes into the science of how proper breathing can improve your health and give you more energy, but also follows it up with very practical exercises you can implement in your life for free starting right away. It doesn't require you to get up early to go the gym or restrict certain foods, though those things can be important in the right context. Breathing practice is something you can do while driving the car, going for a walk, in a business meeting, watching tv and even making love. Don't underestimate the power proper breathing can have on health. As he demonstrates in the book it can help with increasing energy, reducing stress, sleeping, aches and pains, weight loss and so much more. Anders does an exceptional job in explaining the concepts in ways that are easy to understand for readers of all levels.

Informative
As someone that formerly practiced physical therapy, was a yoga and meditation teacher and teacher trainer, I found the information in this book to be direct with some specifics I hadn't come across before. Often times so many different breathing techniques are given at one time that they can be overwhelming to sort through and actually incorporate. I found that this book keeps it simple and to the point while providing plenty of information for clarification and support for incorporating conscious breathing into you daily life. The author does offer products to assist you if you would like to use them and explore further, but the book is definitely informative enough on its own to begin your conscious breathing journey. Though this book I finally found a way to incorporate breath work into my daily life in the same way that my life is a meditation. I enjoyed the book, value it's direct simplicity of technique and am grateful I found it.

Breath is life and here is the guide
My central practice is that of deep, rhythmic, slow, full-body breathing, which is the fundamental health-wise practice in my book. I read many books on breathing and was surprised to learn important material that I had not seen elsewhere. It is well written, almost exciting. Well worth the money and much more.

I never knew how important your breathing effects your health.
I guess I'm one of those people that enjoy knowing the details and you get that in this book. Never thought about my breathing till I read this book and found that I was not breathing properly, have made adjustments but I just finished the book but feel that for health reasons alone it's worth making the change.

Applied the five simple steps - and got my energy back!
So simple - and yet powerful! The Power of Your Breath - It took my breath away, so to speak! Since I read this book - and practiced it I now know that I have what I need to find health, energy and harmony. (We all do!) It is small but powerful things. I learned how to relax and breathe according to five simple steps and Voilá - got my energy back! And more, because this book about breathing is so much more than "just breathing" - it is about finding quality in life. Our body is a gift - but we need to understand how to "unwrap" it. That is what this book did to me.

Brilliant book
Very detailed explanation of just how important nose breathing is to my health and wellbeing. It compliments the other books I have read on this topic. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone with a respiratory disorder, and to anyone, like myself, with a heart condition (both the heart and lungs work together in synchronicity). I have now been nose breathing during the daytime, and at night by using mouth tape, and the benefits have been too numerous to list. I can only thank Anders and other authors for writing life changing books.
