Changed from 3 to 5 stars
April 2023. Bees around my house were not attracted to this. They would fly around or above it, not even pausing to check it out. After a week I tried it without a jar attached, would clean it every night, and put it out again the next morning with fresh nectar. Still nothing. So, instead, I bought 2 dwarf bee balm plants, put them in separate containers, and since the first day, I have had a steady stream of at least 2 different types of bees and butterflies. I have a hummingbird feeder hanging near the plants. One hummingbird always stops to quickly check out the plants before going to the feeder. I find the plants are easier to care for, I don't have to clean jars and make nectar. I'll probably just recycle the bee feeder. ------------------------ Update September 2023. Changed my rating from 3 to 5 stars. The bee balm plants I had bought for the bees are no longer flowering for this season, so I decided to try the bee feeder again. The feeder I received has a black base, I am not sure if that wasn't bright enough to attract bees, so I placed it on the red top of an old hummingbird feeder I no longer use. Maybe that did the trick. I do not place the jar on top, just the feeder that I fill to the brim with sugar water. This is sitting on a balcony railing so too risky to use a glass jar. I am using the same sugar water solution I put in the hummingbird feeder on the other side of the deck instead of the heavier bee solution. The bees love it, full of bees all day long, even one of the hummingbirds will join the bees for a meal, but the bees now stay away from the hummingbird feeder. I bring it in each evening to wash and put it out again the next morning with fresh nectar. My balcony gets full sun all day and with the recent heat wave, and perhaps the hungry bees, I check it throughout the day and occasionally and top it off with more nectar as needed. ----------------------------------- Update, 3 days later. After 3 days on my balcony without using the bottle my balcony was swarming with bees. So, I moved it to the lower deck this morning using the bottle as others have shown, and switched to a 1:1 sugar/water solution. I put a little foil at the opening, as another reviewer recommended, to keep bees from getting stuck inside the bottle. Didn't take long for the bees to find the new location. ------------------------ Update 10/18/2023 So many bees, they are fighting each other. I just ordered another bee feeder and mason jar.

Works well
This works great for providing water to my bees. Its easy to clean and works with any mason jar, as long as the mouth of the jar is wide enough to fit. Now my bees have a nice safe place to get their water, and I don't have to worry about them drowning.

Happy bees
Wish it was bigger ,but it works ,I feed them warm water with sugar, but only when we reach above 55 °or higher farenheit, bees can't fly if the syrup is too cold,I take it down at evening, and put back when warm in the sun, great suppliment for backyard hives ,before the environment kicks into spring flow, glory ukraine,I did place foil tape, and poked tiny holes keeps bees out from entering, and drowning

The bees love it!
The bees love it and it keeps them out of my fountain where they sometimes drown. I might get a second one for the other end of the yard.

Worst design ever
There are no threads to lock a quart jar of syprup onto the feeder and three tiny feet on the bottom. This design makes this highly likely you will not be able to turn it over without spilling all of the syrup, nor can you hang it in a tree, nor put it on a post because of the feet, instead of a flat bottom that will set on a flat post. If any of the feet sets between slats also.. there goes the syrup.

Works great
My bees love this. They have been consuming at least a quart per day. I use a regular mouth quart jar and adjust it over the opening. So easy.

Bee Keepers Bewars
The floating plate top feeder in this small form factor seems like a great idea. In practice the floating plate didn't give enough exposure for bees to take up sugar water. I watched over a couple days and at most caught 3 bees trying to get at the syrup (1 to 1 no oils). With some revisions in the floating platform and a larger footprint I think this could be workable. If you have a 3d printer I would try designing a new plate. Can not recommend at this time. It does work as a good any trap though!

Fine if left in place
Product works fine if not required to move. Once you install the mason jar the feeder should not be moved or spills easily. The take away is to ensure you have your feeder location identified before placing the full mason jar on top. Its a quick solution for community feeding but not a long term bee keeper tool

I use mine for top cover enclosures with my own home made feeder boards. It closes the same as a regular telescoping lid with a 1/2 gallon 1:1 solution jar under it.
