Fun, but needs work
We like board games and card games, and history. This game is fun, but the instructions really need some work. The instructions aren't clear and seem to duplicate non-applicable instructions based on what method you're choosing to play. The instructions are on the outside of the box, but would it really cost that much more to create more detailed instructions to include inside the box. For example, it says you can play four different ways, but the titles for the instructions aren't clear. Then in one set of instructions it indicates that yellow cards are "x" number of points, the blue cards are "x" number of points, and the blue cards are "x" number of points - no, that's not a typo on my part - it really repeats the blue cards and doesn't indicate the red cards. So, in essence, get someone to QC the directions and make the necessary corrections.

Got It, Tried It
There are positives and negatives regarding this 4in1 History Trivia Game.Positives:a] History buffs, even mild history buffs should enjoy this a lot.b] The selection of categories is broad enough for nearly everyone to find their own niche of interest......1] i.e. Historic personalities, history, science, and culturec] The game rules (length) are easily modified to suit any time frame.d] Four player capable or groups.e] Lots of cards, 500 in all with a smattering of historical eras to deal with.Cons:a] The cards are thin, may or may not hold up very well.b] The rules for the personalities cards are ambiguously written.....1] Hint; The person drawing the card reads the questions, the other players try to guess who it is.c] $30 for this?d] Playing by the included rules and going through the pile of cards would be a Lonngggg game.e] The game pieces are of marginal quality IMO.f] A lot of the personality cards are extremely obscure, i.e. Grace Harper, Maria Tallchief, Louis Sullivan, Cyrus McCormick.g} A plethora of duplicate personality cards. All in all, not so much fun if history isn't "Your Thang..."However, if history trivia is fun, and learning a bit more history trivia seems worthwhile, this is a way to go down that road.

Compact
A lot to like and some things I don't like.Pros: Compact Small sturdy board Nice facts/challenging Multi style of play Directions written on back of boxCons: Box flap doesn't stay down (velcro will fix) Die are tiny Thin cards Couldn't find appI really like games that challenge my memory. I haven't played all of the versions yet. I didn't want to until I have a group to enjoy with, didn't want to see too many answers. The box doesn't say how many players. Guessing by the 4 markers pretty much that or group play. I have played a game similar to this one, where all styles of play are part of one game. This game each of the 4 styles are played separately. Not sure how I feel about that yet. I may try and find a way to incorporate all in one game. The few cards I read seem reasonable for adults. Probably more challenging for a teen. You will definitely need rubber bands or something to hold the cards together for storage. This is my second Quokka game. I learned what a quokka was last game. I had trouble locating the app advertised on the back of the box. The QR code took me to a meta messenger app. Searched around and could not find anything that appeared to be matched to the game or the company. There is a misprint on the box if any of the developers are reading this (backside, bullet 2, last game, 'He' instead of 'The'). Trivia cards and personality cards would be great for a party-free style play. I'm guessing an expansion pack is in the works. Quokka site has some nice special needs games. Appreciate that.

for people who enjoy knowing historic dates
This is a review of 4in1 History Trivia Game for Adults - 500 Learning Cards Chronology Board Game - 2 + Players Educational Game for Family Night - Historic Personalities | History | Science | Culture If you like American history and trivia, you will probably like this game. There are basically two games: 'chronology’ and ‘historic personalities.’ You can play either of those as a board game or as a card game. There are 500 cards, most of them for the chronological game. That disappointed me because the answer to 300 of the cards is either a specific date or a year. And I’m no good at remembering dates. I had expected more of the questions to be trivia in the form of questions/identifications with answers other than dates. The game components are nicely made. The board is well printed and folds into fourths, which is nice because it means the box for the game is small (7” x 9 1/2”) and portable. The 500 plastic cards, 4 plastic counters, and one die are all fine but not particularly special. Game instructions are printed on the back of the box. There is also a QR code to scan to get 100+ free puzzles. I scanned the code but it seemed you had to have a Facebook account; I don’t have one so I couldn’t go farther. You really have to like memorizing dates to get full enjoyment of this game.

Fun trivia game
This game has a nice heavy-stock board and is fun/educational to play. The four game variations are easy to learn and the directions are straight forward. There are issues with the trivia cards; each card is paper-thin and much too easy to tear or crease. My card sets have numerous printing errors, pre-creased cards and some duplicate chronology trivia questions with different dates (even if you know both dates, you'll be considered wrong 50% of the time). Included is one miniature six-sided die and four hollow plastic chess-pawns. Everything comes in a sturdy box that is compact, easy to travel with and weights a couple of pounds. Overall, it's a good game but has some manufacturing issues.
