Very helpful
Very helpful, but 4 stars because there are other books that have conflicting information that goes against some of the things in this book. Difficult to decide who is correct or more knowledgeable. Has some helpful information.

Misleading book title, old wine in new bottle.
Nothing new here, the title is misleading. This book does not dwell into the immune dysregulation and gut issues. It just merely mentions chronic immune activation. The whole book can be summarized in one sentence " eat variety of plant food to improve your gut microbiome". This is the theme of almost all books on health these days. I was expecting the connection between immune dysregulation and gut microbiome will be discussed in detail. But this book is just old stuff in a new book cover (old wine in a new bottle). Also, every author has own dietary preference and tends to promote what they like. This author promotes red wine lol.

Brain gut connection
Long has science and the medical profession have ignored the gut biome connection to wellness, until now

Lots of useful information
It’s a good book with lots of information. It can get a bit scientific so you have to be in a certain frame of mind when you’re reading it.

Emeran is a pioneer in this field, I was eagerly anticipating a follow up to his 2016 original book that blew the roof off this topic. This follow up book captures the latest scientific findings and discoveries that frankly blew me away with how all encompassing the theories of mind-gut-immunity-soil-ecosystem are so intrinsically interlinked. Emeran outlines the clear science linking the connection of gut microbes to mental health and the chronic non-infectious disease epidemic impacting western society, the message is clear, food is our medicine and we need to change our food system. The final part of the book consists of amazing Mediterranean food recipes so the reader is left with no excuses for not setting themselves up for a lifetime of sound gut and general health. I’d recommend checking out the documentary ’The Game Changers’ that is mentioned in passing in the book, inspirational stuff!

A more in depth book with science to back it up. I feel people who don't know much about their digestion would find this hard going. I found it fascinating but have been studying how the body works for many years so I already had some knowledge. The recipes in the back are helpful too.
