The black bristles are slightly wider to fill larger spaces between your teeth. It is important that the brush you are using fills the space in between your teeth to remove the greatest amount of bacteria and plaque. Our Smart Grip ergonomically designed handles allow you to clean the back teeth without bending the brush. It is a small brush with BIG results. I don't understand your question - this is just a dental proxa brush, but a different size and shape from the common drugstore brands. I was unable to use the two sizes I tried -- my dentist said they were too large. Waste of money.

No- the handle is made of hard plastic.
