Glyph Production Technologies Atom Portable SSD (1TB, Silver)

So I love my glyph and recently bought another when I need more space. They are small compact and always work, BUT - I'm writing this review, because after coming home from my travels, I put my older glyph in the washing machine with clothe - obviously by mistake. I found it in the washer after the cycle finished. Horrified that I'd washed my glyph, I set it sit on my desk for a day, and then plugged it in praying it worked, as I had super important stuff on the drive. THE GLYPH survived! Great great product

Fast! Am using this on the USB C (thunderbolt 3) port of my 2017 i7 iMac, and it is exactly twice as fast as my 3 San Disk 900's...which only work correctly on USC 3 on the same machine. On this machine with the Atom on USB C I transferred 141 GB in 4.5 minutes, and many, many of these files were small picture files optimized for web downloads (average 150 kb). The San Disk 900 (2 TB) took nearly 11 minutes to transfer the same files onto the same machine, same drive ( a 2 TB ssd). Exactly twice as fast on my machine, identical conditions, same machine, same hard drive. One gotcha (as with all USB C cables): the cable is very short...drive doesn't even make it to the desktop when plugged into my iMac port...but the device is so light, it doesn't seem to matter. Works just fine. By the way, I am not denigrating SanDisk, as I have 3 of their 900 disks...and I love them; they just don't work on the USB C port of my iMac. I think I got like 50 Mb per second with this configuration. Not working right. Works great on USB 3, though.

FANTASTIC drive. Extremely robust and well-built, absolutely blazing performance, and excellent integration with OS X. I'm thrilled with this drive, and use it daily in my regular business workflow as well as my music production workflow (where I keep 500GB of sound libraries). I wish other manufacturers made their products like Glyph -- we'd have a better world.The ONLY complaint that I've got is what others have mentioned: the eyeball-searing green status LED. This thing acts as a bright nightlight when it is on! Seriously, how about a small blue LED at about a 20% of the luminance of the green LED? When the drive is operating, the green LED is distracting. This is the only room for improvement that I can think of.I am thrilled with this purchase, and feel I received great value for this very expensive product. I have faith that this product will have a long and fruitful life.

I knew this drive would be fast but wow. Worked out of the box with my 2016 Macbook Pro with Touchbar. It used to take me over 19 hours to back up my laptop to my 5 year old Western Digital drive. Now it takes 14 minutes. Once of the best purchases I've made.

Extremely fast pocket sized drive. Had difficulty with my windows 10 computer recognizing the drive out of the box. Called their customer service who walked me right through the short process.
