Not for quick removal, it absolutely immobilizes the gun in every way. VERY hard to defeat.
I know they make a version of this that holds rounds and is a VERY different animal in every way. This version is very good at what it promises: Totally safing a Glock 17. Makes it a doorstop. With this in locked into the magwell, it cannot be removed, the slide cannot be moved or removed, a round cannot be in the breech. NOTHING. If you lost the key, I really have no idea how you would get use of the Glock back. Don't lose the key (though there IS a tag on the key and I assume GOSAFE can make another). Keep it separate.I assume the G17 version will work on the G19 as I see no feature on it that requires the longer well.

Great Product - Terrible Variant
I love what GOSAFE is trying to do here. This certainly appealing to anyone who lives in commie states where there is a magazine capacity limit. They essentially created a means to make a gun both situationally accessible and secured. It’s not best in both worlds as a safe but it’s the closest we could get with the current technology at the moment. Now here’s my gripe with this product. This variant sold here on Amazon does NOT allow ammunition to be loaded in the magazine. Why would they design this kind(?) if the point is to have ammunition at the ready while having an option to disable the pistol. There is a loadable variant from their official website but it costs extra. I wouldn’t even bother looking at this non-loadable safe magazine unless the pistol is solely used as a display at a gun show or gun store.

Great idea
I like the idea of being able to stop my Glock 19 totally. You can’t even rack to load a bullet or even pull on the trigger. It would ideal for an owner with small ones in the household. As a responsible owner, the Glock should be secured and out of reach. It will definitely serve as a stopgap as a great deal of weapons are stolen from places like vehicles. It looks like a magazine is already loaded upon first glance! The surprise will come once the keyhole presents itself. I do feel that access is just as fast as other locks. The downside is that only one key is included. I just ordered another one for $14.99. I do keep my weapons and the ammo/magazines separated.

Extremely durable and very reliable
I have owned several weapon locks but this lock is on a whole new level. First off you can feel by the weight alone it is very solid. It works by occupying the magazine well and locking the upper receiver forward not allowing the slide to be actuated. It has a button indicator so you can also visually check to see that it is locked or unlocked. The barrel key is not generic like a standard key it would be extremely hard to defeat the lock. I also like that you can’t even rack the action, it literally only pulls back a few millimeters at most (see picture). I feel very comfortable using this lock to secure my weapon. One of, if not, the most effective and reliable weapon locks I have ever owned.

not what i thought
i bought this because i saw it on a podcast and thought it was a great idea. i did not realize this version did not hold bullets. so instead of getting the g19 out of bed side safe and being ready, with this, i have to unlock the magazine, eject it, insert a loaded magazine, and rack the handgun. too many steps if there is an emergency

A solution to a problem that didn't need solving? At least it works with my PSA Dagger...
This is well made and works exactly as described on my PSA Dagger Full Size - S pistol. But, while having a loadable magazine that was lockable makes sense and solves that problem in a clever way, having this locking mechanism without a loadable magazine seems anticlimactic. Particularly at its current price point! The downsides quickly make this solution less desirable than the alternatives, it's not really a better mousetrap...They only give you one key in the package; you have to separately purchase others! At its current price point this SHOULD have come with at least two keys. While I agree that's it's wise to have the customer register their unique key number as well as activate their warranty, it would have made more sense to offer the second key as an incentive to register and to send it free on completion of registration. As opposed to registering only just so you can spend more money to get the rest the product.Having only one key is an untenable lability for the customer! What if GOSAFE fails or the company is shut down for some reason (sued for liability or over some patent dispute or some such, I mean just how big is the company that makes these?). If you lose that one key, there's no replacement coming so you'll have to destroy the gun to remove this safety lock. Having two keys minimum provides a significantly larger degree of protection against the worst-case scenario, whereas having only one key invites disaster...So, getting that mandatory second key adds another ~$20 to the price of this making it much more expensive than it appears at first. Or for $5 you can get a gun lock that does pretty much the same thing this one does, AND comes with 2 keys...Another downside others have brought up is in trying to unlock this in a stressful situation. I disagree that this is really a problem, or this issue is unique to this lock.I think of it as just more thing you need to include in your training. The key is designed so that it can fit in the lock in any orientation but can only lock or unlock in that one correct orientation. Except that the design of the key's handle accounts for this, and with training you can insert the key into the lock under stress just as well as you could another type of key.It just becomes part of the drill, once you decide to lock your gun up, regardless of what kind of lock you use. This one is no different. As I said earlier, this safety concept makes sense if it's a loadable magazine and if it comes with at least 2 keys. But in many places, this likely would only be considered a gun lock and not a gun safe (as per the name) and that distinction could get you in a lot of trouble.

This is Sweet!
I read about it in Guns and Ammo magazine and about a week later I saw it pop-up on here. works great and fits fine in the wives G17 Gen5. Her G17 for the most part stays locked up and put away and this just adds that one extra level of security. For someone who might need quicker access then I would suggest their other model which is capable of holding rounds as well as being able to be locked. This particular model replaces a magazine and does not hold any rounds. So in order to use the pistol you would have to unlock the magazine, remove the magazine, and then insert a loaded magazine.
