Double Salt Licorice 4.2339 Ounce Bag (Pack of 1)

I am a licorice fan, and have always enjoyed trying different flavors. When I say licorice, I mean the real licorice, black licorice. Everything else is a flavored confection. That said, salted licorice is a Nordic thing (Denmark, Norway, etc). You really don't see it much in the US, unless you are in a community where there is a larger Nordic population. These candies are not hard candy, but somewhere between gummy and hard. I've had to force myself to slow down my consumption of them. Very addictive.

I was expecting a strong, stringent ammonium chloride taste, which was present. But there was also another weird impure off-taste which was unpleasant and made me think this was a low quality product. EDIT: the taste grew on me and i ended up finishing the bag

I actually really love this brand and will keep buying it! It has the consistency of Pine Bros.cough drops which is… marvelous… and delightful… but the flavor is natural, not OVER salted, bitter or sweetened into oblivion as my country demands everything must be, ugh, NO! THIS IS MILD AND VERY PLEASING! I’ll use the word natural again. I’ve tried 7 different brands. I like THIS one!!!

They hit you immediately with a strong salt taste, but it mellows out and they are pretty good. The aftertaste is a bit weird to me personally. But this is my first time having this type of licorice so I don’t know if that’s the product itself or a product of double salted licorice in general and it won’t stop me from consuming the whole bag. They are harder to chew, but not difficult and I quite like how long they last. I got another type so I’ll have to compare and report back if I feel any differently after trying another.

Texture was hard. The price is not bad for nearly 4 and 1/4ounces. I cut off a corner of the bag and did not get the smell of licorice or any hint of sweet smell. Freshness, I honestly can not tell you how fresh the product is, because this is the first time I tried this product. Addictive flavor…not at all with what I received. Sturdiness? The product is packaged in a nice sturdy plastic texture bag. Taste? Holy moly….. NO THANK YOU! I will never purchase this product again. I put one of the drops in my mouth and immediately got a horrible flavor. The salt flavor did not taste like salt, then about 5 seconds in my mouth I got this ammonia taste, and spit the drop out. That nasty ammonia flavor in my mouth took awhile to get out. My breath exhaled ammonia smell. Something is wrong with the product I received. It was the most gosh awful thing I have ever put in my mouth. I honestly thought I poisoned myself. So not a good taste or thought.

Finally got a package of dubbelzout that doesn't taste like it's been sitting in a box of incense in someone's closet for years, I've always struggled with this with Amazon purchases of salt licorice. This one is gluten free, the drops are very small, about the size of a kidney bean. The salmiak flavor is strong and the licorice is very firm and sticks to your teeth. There are a lot in the package, it's a good price.

Perfect salty licorice! Yummy 😋

It is an acquired taste. I nibble one piece per day.
