A little goes a long way. Go one shade lighter.
Really impressed with this root touch-up. The applicator brush makes it so easy to apply & a little goes a long way. I part my hair with the tail end of the brush and then use the bristles to apply the colour which gives a really neat result. The kit includes everything you need (inc gloves which are inside the instructions). Coverage on greys is excellent and like most permanent dyes I find it develops slightly darker, so going one shade lighter gives a perfect match.I’ve repurchased this several times because it’s quick, reliable and ideal for keeping on top of roots between full colour applications.

Easy to use
find the colour a bit dark, but that's just a personal choice.

Easy to use, great coverage
As a busy mam, I really just wanted something that was quick and easy to use, so this hair dye is perfect. It really does blend with my current hair colour too. I find I have to leave it on an extra 5 minutes to get the best coverage though, but I'm not complaining because it means that I get an extra 5 minutes' peace and quiet in the bathroom!

Amazing stuff!
I’ve not dyed my own hair since I was a teenager but recently had a baby and the greys were driving me mad. I slapped the stuff on with zero precision and expected the worst but was pleasantly surprised! Colour matched perfectly with my hair it looks like I’ve just had a freshen up at the salon! Will no longer be going to the hairdresser for my roots

A great temporary solution during lockdown
I haven't used a do-it-yourself colour for 20 years, so was initially a little unsure. I contacted Clairol direct to get advice on matching up my salon colour, but to be honest they weren't much help - in the end I decided to go for number 5 (medium brown) as my salon mix was equal parts of 5 and 6. I have very thick, course, resistant hair which is predominantly grey, and I had 2 inches of grey/silver regrowth. I used two packs to do a hairline and parting touch up. The brush was a bit fiddly, and for the faceline I found it easier to use my finger. The instructions say leave on for 10 minutes - add an extra 5 mins if you have a lot of grey. My usual salon development time is at least 40 minutes, then it needs to be checked, so taking this into account I left it on for 45 minutes. Emulsified, then rinsed off, shampooed and checked the result. I was actually pretty impressed - I had full coverage on all the areas I had treated, with no translucency or lines, and the colour had blended in very well with my existing salon colour. I have since done another top up, and received the same results. I think under the current circumstances this is a good temporary solution until I can get back to the salon and have it done properly. The two packs I used each time only covered my parting and approx 3 inches either side and my faceline, so do bear this in mind if like me, you have thick course hair. Also if you have a lot of grey then I would recommend you check the coverage before you rinse off to ensure that it has covered sufficiently. If I had followed the instructions then I would not have got the depth of coverage I wanted, and I would have been left with a lot of translucency.

Not permanent colour?
I’ve used this now for a couple of years but I find that it fades after a week.I only used a small amount of each tube and just do hairs on sides of my head and the top parting just where people can see really, so I get a few uses out of each box and I leave it on for longer like 30 mins, and it looks fab at first but then a week later it needs doing again? I don’t think this is permanent?
