looks wonderful in my grandsons bedroom! it was a bear to put together, and the directions are a little off... but if you've ever put together IKEA you can do this... wonderful addition for homework space (not large enough for adults - but perfect for kids space)

I loved the look of this desk and knew it would be perfect for our 12 year old's room. He uses a lap top, doesn't have a lot of knick knack stuff, but some cool things to display, and not the biggest room in the world. I'd give the piece 5 stars for the price to quality ratio, 1 star for the directions, 1 star to the first Amazon CS rep, 5 to the second Amazon CS rep and 3 for the damage only because the manufacturer is replacing the items needed...read on...It was a Christmas gift and we planned to put together and rearrange his room on Saturday. All was great, until we lugged the 100 lb box up the 2 stories and opened the box, to find two of the back pieces busted in half. We wanted to still get it together and hoped we could get the replacements from the manufacturer.Putting the desk together was a task for this spacial challenged brain - note to manufacturer, indicate at least back and bottom on the pieces. Because it's a ladder desk, the way the pieces go is very important and there is very little in the directions to help with it. The directions were totally lacking and the fastener locks fell out and broke in a couple spots. It took hours to put together, and I am a master of the furniture building!It looked great, except for the pieces that were damaged and had to be fixed to work until replacements came. I got on CS Chat with Amazon and at first it was a lot of nos and the only option was to pack up the whole desk and get a new one or a 10% refund to make up for it, to which I balked and stood firm. Finally, I got on with the large item department who called the manufacturer and they are in the process of sending replacements, saving me to have to decide between figuring out how to send back this heavy item and go through the hell of putting it together again! Don't take no for an answer if anything arrives damaged, ask for the large furniture department!Thursday, we tackle the hobby desk from the same company for our 7 year old. Fingers crossed!

I read so many reviews on this shelf, on multiple websites. Most of them were not very good, but when the price dropped, I decided to take the chance, because this shelf is adorable! It looks super cute in my room. I don't have a desk top computer, I got it to use for my tv, and it fits perfectly. Took a bit to put together, just like the other reviews said. I did not have any missing or broken pieces, although the box did come pretty ripped up and damaged. I would certainly recommend this to a friend.

This is AWFUL!!! Total nightmare.The assembly instructions were not included. It was very time consuming locating them and printing them out.There is a major missing part -- the bottom drawer itself --not included in the box.The top shelf of the desk has a flaw where they missed with the paint. There are dings and marks in other pieces as well.At first the company said to ship it back (all 100 lbs) removed from the box --- because they didn't know when they'd be able to find the replacement parts. When we called Ameriwood directly they said they'd get the part from an already assembled product. Good, at least we get the part. Bad for someone else who will get to experience a missing drawer part.I will not order an Ameriwood product again.There were several screws missing from the assembly and the two of the holes did not fit the screws. The had to be pounded in- carefully because in other areas (where they fit) the board splintered.It's really big, really heavy and tough to repackage so beware. If you get a dud, you're kind of stuck.There is supposed to be technical assistance for the product on a Saturday, of course there is not.A 100 lb. desk that can NOT be easily repackaged. UNASSEMBLED on the floor.Should have listened to other reviews and avoided Altra like the plague. Live and learn. Hope this helps others.

It is sturdy but it is good only for small children furniture.

It is a great piece of furniture. So useful and it doesn't take a lot of space. Easy to set up. It took me around 45 min to built it up.

The quality of the wood seemed good and sturdy as I began the hours long process of assembling this by myself. The instructions were a little strange and omitted hardware use from time to time. The hardware itself was cheap and sometimes plastic which broke upon tightening. The top of the desk has a small dent which I didn't notice until completion and is not large enough for me to disassemble and return the entire unit. Overall, I am very disappointed and would not buy this product again nor would I recommend it to another for purchase.

The desk is great, it's very durable and stylish and a good size if you don't have a lot of space. The only con is if you have a large pc tower you'll have to put it sideways on the bottom shelf, my 22in monitor fits perfectly. Another thing you should do is find out if the seller uses FedEx before ordering, they broke the desk before I even got it. Instead of telling me it was damaged they just pretended it was still on the truck for delivery. I found out what happened by calling them, in the end it took almost 3wks to get my desk. I am happy now that I got it because I love it.
