I received the book fast, well boxed and in mint condition. The book is a allround book for the novice dog owner focusing a lot on general issues and less on breed specific issues.

Great book on GP's. I have owned a German Pinscher or GP for a year. I saw this book and picked it up as a coffee table book for my friends. GP's are smart, loving, loyal, stubborn, and determined dogs. Very few people have ever seen one and they always get compliments and questions. I was surprised that this book had information and suggestions I had not seen elsewhere. Highly recommended. For those considering a GP - temperament is everything. GP's are a older breed that the Dobermann was derived from. Like the Dobie they need a firm, positive approach to training. They need a job and clear rules with no tolerance for nonsense. I would recommend them for older kids or when closely supervised with younger children. Mine is a very high energy dog. They are a very "self-aware" dog and not the dog that is going to put up with being taunted or teased. They will quickly defend themselves and this could end badly for everyone in the wrong situation. Choosing a breeder is a critical part of making a GP part of your family. You want a breeder who has certified her dogs as free of genetic problems and who places an emphasis on breeding for companionship.

Perfect, informative but an easy read.

This book far exceeded my expectations! I have many purebreed dog books on my shelves and this one is one of the best ones I have read. Not only does it cover all the advantages and disadvantages of the breed, but the author covers in great detail its history, from its roots in Germany all the way to its history in conformation shows across the world. What a great read for anyone who is interested in this breed and a MUST HAVE for anyone who already owns or is interested in owning a GP. The book is also filled with lots of beautiful glossy photos! I can not recommend this book enough!
