Between Worlds

We've enjoyed his wonderful Bach CD since shortly after its release, so we were excited when we learned that the supremely talented Avi Avital was working on a new CD. I pre-ordered it and it arrived today, and I can already tell (after listening three times) that it will be a family favorite. The music, which comes from different areas of the world and different time periods, flows gracefully from one selection to the next. The choice of music is inspired and the arrangements are flawless. Avi Avital, who will debut at Carnegie Hall in a few days, is a mandolin genius. Joining him on this CD are some other extraordinary musicians, including Richard Galliano (accordion), Catrin Finch (harp), Giora Feidman (clarinet), Klaus Stoll (bass), Itamar Doari (percussion), and many more. If you aren't yet familiar with Avi Avital's music, you are in for a treat. Just can't get into this CD. I love Mandolin music, but I just never listen to it.

Avi Avital is a mandolin virtuoso, and this CD has a range of different types of music, including classical and folk form different cultures. I might have liked more klezmer music, but it is entertaining.

As a lover of folk music, I find this album ravishing. I ordered it after hearing Avital's performance of the Bartok Romanian Folk Dances on the radio but have found some additional great surprises. It's becoming a real favorite.

My 4th cd with Avi Avital playing mandolin. This by far, for me, is the best one. He presents a variety of classical music with him on mandolin and others on different instruments. A great cd!

Great CD! I have bought three of Avi Avital's CD's in the past year and this one is my favorite.

Hubby loves it

Very strong musicianship but choice of material was poor. Would love to hear this artist's efforts with material other than auditory doodling.
