Description said all metal. The one I got was plastic but for $8 I wasn't going to return it. It works as it should. Easy to install. Lube the linkage and strikers well for smoothest operation. Also check striker adjustment. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

The product fit exactly and looks good. It works perfectly. However, it was represented as metal whereas it is plastic in almost every respect. As it turns out, when the mechanism is lubricated well, the tailgate will open with almost no effort... even a pinky finger can do it easily. So, I guess it does not much matter that the part is plastic and not metal.

I was shocked when the original handle just broke off. I went to U Tube and found a video on replacing it, went to Amazon and found the part I needed. I had the correct tools already and when the handle got here (which was very quickly) I was able to install the new handle in no time at all. I am very happy with my purchase.

I read the reviews and knew it was a bait and switch before buying it, the price was a sure giveaway. I had a metal replacement handle awhile back and actually preferred the plastic handle over the metal so i ordered it knowing it was plastic. The plastic handle fits nicer in the hand and has a solid but smother flexing feel to it when opening the tail gate. Bought this to replace the flimsy plastic handle on my 2002 Ford Ranger XLT tailgate. It fits perfectly and now I don't have to pull the handle as hard as before to open the tailgate. The old plastic one would just bend too much and was a hassle. My only complaint is that this handle is slightly smaller than the original. I wish they would've made it the same size.

Pro and Con is same for this product. Pro is that, this handle look and feels like the factory one and easy to install but the Con is because it looks and feels the same as factory one, I'm afraid of not lasting long. can't loose much for what you pay for. I wish this manufacturer would have made this handle with maybe stronger material where the two end piece that connect to the tailgate lock instead of cheap plastic.

I purchased this one over the many choices, because it was advertised as "All metal, stronger than plastic". The item received was PLASTIC. Now, in all fairness, the item was of good quality and took five minutes to install. If I was not in a position that I needed the part ASAP, I may have considered returning it as it was not as advertised.

The Ford dealership not only wanted to sell me the same inferior product like the original AND they wanted to over-charge me for it AND they wanted to over-charge me by hitting me with a huge installation charge.
