This can literally be a life-saver.
I'm an electrician who generally works by myself (self-employed) and had a job where I had to install a guy wire mount in the middle of a metal roof. I was very concerned about sliding off, so I invested in some relatively cheap insurance -- this Lifeline Assembly. I already had a harness, so I didn't need to purchase that. I was very pleasantly surprised at the thickness of the rope, but also its flexibility. I thought it would be much stiffer. I was concerned about how easily it would uncoil and if it would kink when I used it. After doing some research on YouTube, I bought an 18 gallon tote and fed the line into it haphazardly a length at a time, the way arborists do with a rope bag. It worked beautifully when I pulled it out over the roof and attached it to a tree with an OSHA-approved strap. The sliding clip moved easily up and down on the line when held open and locked onto the rope firmly when released. Gratefully, I never slid on the roof, so I didn't get to test the shock absorbing capabilities of the line, Hopefully I never will. This product is certainly well designed for its purpose and will give me peace of mind whenever I need to protect myself in a high environment.

Genuine
This product was recommended to me by a professional construction guy, and when I got mine, it looked exactly like his, so it's genuine.

Better Safe than Gravely Sorry!
I've used this "lifeline" several times while servicing my roof (~30ft high) with a 7/12 pitch. All it takes is a simple slip on loose shingle granuals or improper footing to cause a fall. Call me a wimp for using the ABC's of fall protection, but it is better to be safe and secure while working on a roof. Some professional roofers would not seen with such safety gear, because they are on a schedule and safety cuts into the bottom line--so it is overlooked. As a homeowner performing roofing work, there is no excuse for sacrificing safety. Sure, a professional can be called in, but that view is not followed by all inquisitive DIY homeowners. The product came as shown: 100 ft lifeline, snap hook with shock absorber, and positioning lanyard.
