The thing that I love about this book is that the author has gone ...
The thing that I love about this book is that the author has gone through the effort of creating a large set of examples to explore the different concepts, and he has made sure that the examples work with an easy-to-find low-cost board, and using a free toolchain. It is one thing to explain concepts abstractly, but with embedded systems, there is a lot to learn from actually implementing systems. I have taught classes on this material before and I have always has to put a lot of time into getting abstract examples to work on a real board. The author has already done this for you with this book.

Best embedded book
This is by far the best embedded text I have come across. It can be used by novices as well as people who have some back ground in embedded systems. It is well illustrated with simple and clear diagrams and examples are very complete and also very well explained. Worth every penny.

Big-picture embedded systems book.
Has code examples, but more importantly concentrates on the big picture of how things fit together.

Incomplete code examples. Strictly Keil Compiler
While I saw good attempts to cover broad concepts in Embedded Systems Design, such as The Scheduler and Task-based techniques. Unfortunately reading the concept alone was not enough. One must be able to try the code example out. This is where readers will be upset because the code example did not include the macros used in the program. I am not sure why. Perhaps the author expected his readers to fill in that missing piece by diving into the Arm Cortex-M and the FRDM KL25Z user guide from Freescale. Perhaps authors of any programming book must know that a broken example code leads to a big disappointment from the users/readers. I wish I knew ahead of time to avoid buying this book for self studying.

Buy it somewhere else
The bottom of the book is cut off. This is either a reject or pirated. It was marked as new and sold at the books normal price.

Great book
Before reading this book I wanted to get into embedded systems but I didn't know where to begin. With this book you can start programming 32 bit ARM based MCUs right away as it guides you through all the basic concepts and information necessary for any beginner.I just wish the book had a chapter dedicated to clock configuration as I had to read from other sources how to setup the clocks. Still a great book though.

Poor content of DMA
I have not read the book in depth, but I expected more about the DMA, I have been somewhat disappointed. It is one of the few books that I have seen announcing the treatment of DMA in ARM, but the content on this subject is quite poor. The print quality of the book is not very good, especially considering how expensive it is, it seems as if it had been printed at home with an inkjet printer, instead of being made by professional printing. In any case I put three stars, because globally the content seems good, but if I could I would not buy it again, nor recommend it, it is too expensive for it to offer.

An outstanding title in the area of Embedded Systems Design & Development
This is a very nice book on ARM Cortex M based Microcontrollers with numerous practical examples. The Author has designed a Course-ware on ARM Microcontrollers under ARM University Program and the readers of the book are lucky enough to have that flavor in the process of learning Embedded Systems. The book also introduced Development Tools for code development with easy to understand code examples for students. I surely recommend the book for professionals in teaching, research & industry in the area of Embedded Systems Design and Development.
