Exploring Learner Language (Oxford Handbooks for Language Teachers Series)

I don't consider myself much of a linguist, despite my master's degree in TESOL, but this book and accompanying CD offered video clips that explained a lot of the theories that were difficult to grasp in my course. I found it very helpful, and quite practical.

If you are teaching SLA, this is a great supplementary book to use. It comes with a DVD that includes activities that are well designed. If you aim to teach your students how to analyze SLA data, this is the book you need!

Second Language Acquisition is definitely a fascinating subject. I used this book for my university SLA course. The book is quite concise, though it is very clear. It outlines all major theories and very well organized. It is a valuable resource/reference for my professional library.

I'm using parts of this text in my Intro to SLA class. My students love the excerpts from a variety of task types, speakers from different L1s, and at different levels of proficiency. Exactly what was needed for teaching at this level!

I need this book for my lesson. I was told the book was used but it is almost a new one. I enjoy reading it.

I bought this optional book for a learner language analysis project and it became my 'go-to' guide for my experiment with my EFL students. The activities suggest for collecting data are solid. I would recommend this book (and the DVD examples) if you are looking to collect data. For basic teaching tips, this book won't be of much use to you. It needs to be applied in order to see how learner language develops at your particular situation.
