I thought the box looked a little small so set the trap without the box, it's a strong trap and I loaded with peanut butter the first night, no result so second day loaded with some potato, trap went off and while it didn't catch the rat it must have caught it in some way as it was at the side of the trap, went to get the rat and it was still lively just stunned and I ended up panicking it would get away and stomped it to death

Very good item and powerful traps but safe to leave outside with our dogs as the design keeps the traps away from the 2 openings ,only downside is they trigger quite easily so they also kill mice and on one occasion opened box to find a small mouse still alive . I might see if I can alter the trigger somehow to make a wee bit less sensitve .

I caught a couple of rats with a squirrel cage but needed something more discreet in appearance and size to fit in smaller locations.These rat traps fit the bill perfectly. The bait boxes are of a sturdy construction for their purpose and are securely closed opening only with the slip key provided. Perfect if your baiting and not trapping. The boxes can be secured to the surface they are located on too.The actual rat trap also seems very well made, offering a strong but easy to set spring along with a good aggressive snap shut when triggered.Happily I have not caught anything yet, hopefully the three trouble makers I caught prior mark the end. (he says naively)It's great that I can set them and leave with the box both protecting the bait and the trap from the elements. Also preventing my dogs from exploring any potentially trapped rats or their bait.My only negative is that in the full description it states that cable ties are included, which when attached to the trap will give visual indication if the trap has actually been sprung. Sadly no cable ties or respective holes in the box to thread them through. Not a major problem that I cannot remedy if I really do get too exhausted from opening them to check😁.All in all I'm very pleased with their build quality should the pests return I'm sure they'll perform admirable as my protective glove and a pencil will testify.

I have high hopes for these traps, time will tell. The traps are very well made with the trap part being removable for cleaning and re baiting. I have placed mine on a well worn rat run but have yet to have any success, rats are very skitty suspicious creatures and do not like anything new or having their runs interfered with. I will persevere and let them get used to the new hardware, patience wins. I use a combination of peanut butter and rodent attractant which I know works well, I cannot use poisons as I get hedgehogs and sparrow hawks in my garden and don't want to harm them.

After rats started chewing their way through my shed door and bee hive sides I've been using 4 of these for nearly a month without catching a single rat so far. Tried a few things for bait some of which disappeared such as buts of mars and snickers bars but I've not found a sprung trap yet except when I've jostled the thing and it's snapped shut.On one of my 4 traps the plastic inside makes contact with the raised metal bar of the trap making it hard to close.
