Product Description Nerdy college student Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has survived the plague that has turned mankind into flesh-devouring zombies because he’s scared of just about everything. Gun-toting, Twinkie-loving Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) has no fears. Together, they are about to stare down their most horrifying challenge yet: each other’s company. Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin co-star in this double-hitting, head-smashing comedy. desertcart.co.uk Review If there's been a zombie apocalypse and you're road-tripping alone though the wasteland, you could do worse than run into Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), a bourbon-swilling bad-boy butt-kicker with a really cool car. This is where the careful hero of Zombieland, a kid nicknamed Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), finds himself early in the film, and you can hardly blame him for hitching a ride with this swaggering Alpha Male. Still, they have their hands full not only with gibbering zombies but also with two sisters (Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin) who will stop at nothing to reach a Disneyland-like amusement park in L.A. Although Zombieland gets off to a rocky start with Columbus's overly-cute narration (he's got a list of rules for surviving in the zombie world), it settles into an amusing comedy, regularly interrupted by bouts of blood-letting. The road-trip stuff is enough fun that when the movie does arrive at its version of Disneyland, the air goes out of it a little; sure, there's a giant zombie blowout, with entrails flying, but it's not quite the same. Director Ruben Fleischer keeps the gags coming, although the movie is often funnier in its odd little asides (both Eisenberg and Harrelson are expert at this) than in its official jokes. Comic high point: an interlude at the home of a very famous movie star, who plays himself--and we'll leave the spoiler unspoiled, in case anybody hasn't heard about this funny extended cameo. --Robert Horton Review: Violently humorous, humorously violent - Zombies have never really been a source of comedy until very recently. Romero managed to get a certain amount of comedy out of Dawn of the Dead with his satirical attack on consumerism, but up until Shaun of the Dead, zombies were not really considered to be comedy gold. And whilst many regard Shaun of the Dead as the zombie comedy that set the standard, with Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer may well have raised the bar. When the film opens, the zombie fuelled apocalypse is quickly dispensed with during the opening credits (an unknown infection turns people into bloodthirsty zombies and anyone bitten by a zombie becomes a zombie, pretty standard stuff really, but that's not what the film is really about) and we are introduced to our nameless hero, played by Jesse Eisenburg, a college geek who has spent his life being afraid of almost everything, too nervous to take chances and really live, and it is this very nervousness that has kept him alive due to his fear of everything from clowns to bathrooms to always fastening his safety belt when driving. Adapting his fears into a long list of do's and don'ts for survival (which crop up throughout the film in a very clever use of subtitles), our hero and narrator (a very, very knowing, funny and arch voice over) decides to head for Columbus to see if his parents are still alive (he was never really close to his parents and until later in the film he cannot figure out why he really wants to do this). Along the way he meets a short fused redneck in the shape of a very funny Woody Harrelson. Harrelson's character agrees to team up with Eisenberg, and the pair suffer a series of humorous and very bloody encounters before encountering two girls Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. This foursome eventually team up, realising that they may be the last four people alive on Earth and they need each other, not just to survive but also to truly live. Zombieland is on the surface a simple comedy that utilises the end of the world to elicit laughs from its audience. And the film works very well on this level, and there is nothing wrong with that, but there is another, equally satisfying film here, as Eisenburgs character finally comes of age in the face of the ensuing apocalypse and realises that he may well have left to late to finally start living his life. Developing an attachment to his three fellow survivors, Eisenburg comes to the conclusion that this is now the only family that he will ever have, and it is his efforts to keep this mis-matched "nuclear family" together that forms the core of this hugely funny, hugely enjoyable and hugely satisfying zom com. There is also a number of terrific performances within this film, with Harrelson being the most obvious with his slightly over the top but loveable redneck with his violent hatred of zombies (the reason for which we discoverer late on in the film, which makes him are more rounded character) and his love of twinkies, as well as Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin turning in terrific performances, but this is really Eisenbergs movie, as he is the heart and soul of this film. No one gets a name, with characters referring to each by the places they come from or are heading to so as not to get to attached, just in case (Eisenberg is known as Columbus, whilst Harrelson becomes Tallahassee, Breslin Little Rock and Stone Wichita) but even without this most obvious of character conventions, you really do care about this slightly dysfunctional "family", and coupled with a lot of laugh out loud genuine belly laughs and some really bloody violence, often in the same scene, as well as a truly outstanding cameo from a Hollywood comedy legend that is almost a total scene stealer, this film is not just as good as Shaun of the Dead, it may well be its superior. Review: Fantastic action-adventure coming-of-age story - Fantastic performances by Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg. Quite sweary and about normal amount of gross as zombie movies go, so not one for sensitive viewers. But it's all in a good cause as Jesse Eisenberg and his band of unlikely allies fight their way through the zombie apocalypse and form deep bonds. It's also got fantastic humour peppered throughout.

I'm not a Zombie fan, but I didn't want it to end!!
Wow! Wow! Wow! I Absolutely love this film! On every level it's great! If you want laughs, guns, zombies and great cinematography you can't beat it! It has the best opening to any film I've seen in a while and the script is sharp and tight, and most importantly - laugh out loud, side splitting, piss your pants funny! The stunts and action are great, it's well directed, the score is excellent and it makes great use of sets and scenery. Visually, the film is a treat and excites the eyes. Also the jokes and characters are hilarious and very, very likeable. The acting's great, with an awesome cameo from Bill Murray, and Jesse Eisenberg does a very good job in the lead role - watch out Michael Cero, this guy does you - but even bette Harrelson is on top form and honestly, I loved everything about it. I enjoyed this film so much I can't wait to watch it again. A real feel good movie that I was surprised to find I loved. I thoroughly recommend it for a fun night in front of the goggle-box. The Blu Ray copy I had looked amazing quality too (let's be honest, the format and transfers can be a bit hit and miss), this is one Blu Ray that looks and plays as Blu Rays should. Overall - for me - this gets an easy 9... maybe even 10/10. Great fun and visually pleasing. If you found this review helpful, please give it the thumbs up - and if not, comment on why so I can do a better job for you next time. Thanks :-)

great fun, plenty of laughs and a standout performance from Woody Harrelson
I originally recorded this film on sky+ having seen it advertised during it's release and never thinking much of it or having any real desire to see it... just shows how wrong you can be. A hugely enjoyable film with some fantastic deadpan comic timing and delivery from its main stars. Woody Harrelson is brilliant in a role that seems to fit him perfectly. For a Zombie Horror/comedy the gore is there in all the right places, though always handled in a comic way. The cameo, mentioned in most reviews of the film, will bring a huge smile to anyone's face who was born/grew up in the 80s like me and adds some well placed laughs. For a film I had so little expectation of I cannot recommend the film enough! it's not an Oscar contender, it isn't going to go down as an all time great, but for pure enjoyment, laughs and re-watch value anytime you need a smile putting on your face, this is a fantastic film. On Blu-ray the picture and sound are top notch.

Bloody. Violent. Funny. Three words that don't always go together but they're all appropriate when we're talking about "Zombieland." This is a movie that turns the whole zombie genre on its ear and, at least in my opinion, that's a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the "Resident Evil" movies and a few others but, honestly, there are way too many zombie flicks out there and way too many of them are formulaic. In the end, it comes down to this: Too much of a good thing is still too much. That said, "Zombieland" is anything but formulaic. For example: Watching Amber Heard - one of the most beautiful women in the world - turn into a zombie and then chase Jesse Eisenberg around his apartment lets the viewer know right away that this is not your run-of-the-mill horror movie. Watching Woody Harrelson fight zombies with a banjo just reinforces that fact. This movie has been reviewed a thousand times or more so I'm not going to spend a lot of time talking about the plot. I'll simply say that the cast - including a wonderful sequence with Bill Murray - does the very funny script proud. The make-up and costuming are top notch and the cinematography is very good. There is a lot of violence in this movie and that might bother some viewers but it didn't trouble me in this instance because it's done to parody so many also-ran zombie movies. As satire, it is brilliant. Great flick: 5 stars.
