I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question. I use chalk paint to redo furniture and then finish it off with varnish to seal it.

I have painted 2 chairs and 2 cabinets. I have used the soft touch varnish on all and it dried clear with no yellowing.

Can this be used over chalk paint on an exterior door?

I wouldn't use chalk paint on an exterior door. It doesn't seem to be weather proof.
