Q: Will this slice pickles?

The plastic base is not very sturdy. That said -- it is great for very soft foods. This is an opinion and not based on actually experience slicing pickles --- I DO NOT BELIEVE it would do a very good job. As advertised, it is for SOFT foods. Pickles are not soft. I would not buy for that purpose. I use for SPAM and EGGS and it works GREAT!
