Removes an amazing amount of water
I do not have a damp house but I tested a 12L Arete 2 unit and was impressed with its performance. As I didn't need a smart wifi connected unit I opted for this Honeywell unit at a significant saving over similar 12L rated products. My first impressions are this is well made, compact, robust (heavy) and comes with a good instruction booklet. The operating sound is not quiet but neither is it noisy. The unit wheels smoothly on hard floors and I would recommend, wherever possible, use it on hard surfaces where accidental spillage of water will not cause a problem. Even carrying the unit with a half full tank can result in spillage. The amount of water this unit extracts from my “dry” home is nothing short of amazing. Running for 8 hours in the hall over night extracts over 1 litre water. Then moving it to the bedroom for just an hour in the morning will extract another half litre. Running on my off peak tariff costs around 15p a night. I have a tip, do not turn the unit off at the mains until you have first switched the power switch off on the unit. Failure to do this will result in a prolonged boot up next time you power on the unit. I am extremely pleased with this unit as it is economical to run, very efficient at removing moisture and will reduce the need to open windows in the winter and waste heat. Attached video shows 1 night of moisture removed.

Great value for money and effective for drying laundry.
I bought this to help dry my laundry during winter and the current wet weather. I did not want the running costs of a tumble dryer so this seemed like the perfect alternative. So far, it has worked very well although, having only had it for a few days, I have no idea yet of the running costs but I am sure it will be cheaper than a tumble dryer. It dries clothes well as long as they are hung properly on an airer. I have yet to try it with sheets and duvet covers. So far, I am very happy with this dehumidifier. It is easy to operate and easy to empty the water container.

An excellent dehumidifier
I truly wish I had purchased this sooner. Having had this for a month it has certainly made a difference. The unit functions well and takes care of humidity very well and quickly. It makes the house feel warmer as it has extracted the cold damp air. I use this in my kitchen which also has the bathroom just off the side. My only gripe with it is that when the unit is turned off using the power button on top, it just immediately come back on if touched accidentally. I have found that turning it off at the wall for 10 seconds sorts this. A minor but frustrating inconvenience. Secondly I mistook the filter meaning. It has a mesh filter on the back of the unit. I thought and hoped that it had a particle filter as such. Admittedly this was my misunderstanding. Other than that I am glad I purchased the 20ltr unit.

Well made. Easy to set up.
October 2025 I would recommend this dehumidifier for its solid build and ease of setting up. It's quite heavy but feels well made. Good clear instructions and easy control panel Although it's sold as very quiet I would not want it on in the same room as I sleep. Perhaps I'm a little picky? I turn it off each night. I use it upstairs in a smallish detached house in The Midlans UK. I have had mildew around the bathroom windows snd various other spots in all the bedrooms. I'm new to this so still learning. I think it's all about moving it from room to room every few days. It fills the tank very well. I used laundry mode in our box room with damp clothes. This was a bad idea because the heat of the machine made more moisture befor it could be dried. Hence I noticed extra dark mildew on the corners of the room. I will revert to drying clothes downstairs in the kitchen. I have read about the health benefits of opening windows each side of the house every day for 10 mins. This also seems a good plan to also help reduce damp spots and mildew. I've also moved our settee a little away from the outside wall and am taking more care of general cleaning around and behind other articles of furniture. Yep... I reckon this dehumidifier is good for the price.
