All in all, happy with the result.
I get the impression this is quite an elderly moulding. I believe I may have made the identical model in my early teens. Some of the parts are ill fitting with flash interfering, and some of the features appear to be over scale. None the less it makes a nice solid little model, which I painted to resemble the S.XII (the cannon armed version) in Hugault's Le Pilote a l'Edelweiss.

Looks good...
Looks good in the artwork picture, just hope I can do the model justice when I come to make it and paint it. Good service and product from this seller.

Not Revell's best
Designed to counter the latest German fighters, the SPAD XIII entered service in 1917 and became one of the most successful Allied fighters of the war. It was flown by many of France's best known aces, including
Georges Guynemer
and Rene Fonck and was adopted by the RFC and the US Army Air Service, where it was flown by
Eddie Rickenbacker
.Just when I thought I'd built all of Revell's WWI biplanes, I find yet another and, liking these excellent, cheap little kits so much, I have no option but to buy and build it.Like all of the German model manufacturer's offerings in this genre it is simple to build with just enough detail to satisfy the discerning eye. Some of the detail (some raised "panel lines") is a little blurred and indistinct, whereas in other areas (the wing fabric ribbing) it is somewhat over-emphasised. There are more ejector pin dimples than is strictly acceptable, but these are easy enough to fill and file. Some filling will also be required for the fuselage seams and the join between the fuselage and the lower wing.Whether it is an acurate depiction of the aircraft I know not; I suspect that it may lack for some accuracy, but at 1/72 it looks good enough to me.Revell have produced better WWI biplanes in this scale, but there are also plenty worse and, as usual, with some care and patience, this will make a nice addition to the fleet.Finishing the model in Captain William Fry's (23 Sqn RFC) markings requires a five colour camoflage pattern (six if you count the underside) so make sure you get the right paints*. Don't forget the
glue
,
filler
,
masking tape
and some decal setting solution (
MicroSol
and
MicroSet
).*Dark Earth, Anthracite, Beige, Dark Green and light Olive Green uppers with a light blue/grey underneath.
