Quicken Willmaker Plus 2018 Edition: Book & Software Kit

Horrible product for a few reasons. First, product "support" only lasts for the year of the product. After that, if you want to make changes to your will, you need to order the newest year. So I have up until Dec 31, 2018 to make changes, then I need to buy the newest year product over again if I want to update it again.If that's not enough, they are so concerned with you stealing their "intellectual property" that they make it impossible to tweak your will or make any changes to the document itself. Like turbotax, it has a wizard interface. The problem is that it is a bit cludgy, so if you want to change anything, you need to go back through the wizard for that section. The problem is that any changes you make wipe out ALL of the progress you made from that step forward. For example, if you want to make a change for something in step 2 and you were on step 10, well then you need to do steps 3-10 over again.Lastly, this might work if you have an "easy" scenario. But if you need any special circumstances....even something as simple as having different scenarios how your assets are handled if you children are under 18 or over 18, you're in for a tough time.Just bad.

I looked at many online free and paid "make your own will" sites. I gave up on them because they were not flexible enough to do what I needed. I decided to try the Nolo Quicken Willmaker Plus due to the good reviews. They were right. This product comes with a large book that explains everything and easy to install CD software for Windows or Mac (I used the Windows version). The program is simple to use and understand, totally flexible, and allows for infinite revisions as needed. You can make wills for several people with it. I highly recommend this product to anyone needing to make a will (or the other documents it makes) who don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on an attorney.

I bought this product 6 months ago but I just got around to using it (I'm not planning on passing away any time soon!). After install, I get a warning that the product is NO LONGER SUPPORTED AND IS OUT OF DATE AND I NEED TO BUY AN UPGRADE! buy an upgrade?? I haven't even used it yet. So, every year they come out with a "new" version and if you want to make changes in the future, planning on being told your product needs to be upgraded every time! Just a veiled attempt to shake us down for more money.

Highly recommended. Easy to use, with excellent documentation. My money will now go where I choose. It runs perfectly on my 2017 MacBook Pro, OS 10.13.

This is one of the most difficult to use, frustrating pieces of software I've ever used. The customer service is non-service. The instructions are unclear and unhelpful. I would not recommend this to most people. It has been 90% useless for me. I've been trying to do what I think of as a simple will for almost a month and I can't get around the rigid pre-programmed information to make something that makes any sense. You can't ignore or skip the things you don't need, and the software fills in words that you don't see on the screen, only when you look at the summary, and then there's still no way to remove or revise them. The only suggestion they have is to import the WillMaker document into Word and fix it inside a word processing program. Huh???? Based on my experience I don't know how this can be really helpful to most people or be worth the time it takes to create. I sure wouldn't have bought this software if I'd known what I know now and I've wasted hours trying to get my money's worth out of this. Don't accept all the fuzzy warm words you read about it.

fairly typical of quicken database products in that it doesn't easily support common functions available in other products such as office. Cutting and pasting is convoluted, importing and exporting is nearly impossible. It does help organize your thinking about your will and estate, but I wouldn't trust it for anything complicated. I plan to take the results to my lawyer to help him understand what I want.

It is a great product, easy to use.However, this 2018 version is only supported til Dec. 31 2018. Nolo has the 2019 version half-off. No brainer here.
