Great fix for cracked freezer draws
Used this item for fixing broken and cracked freezer draws. Worked really well, felt very strong when staples were welded in place. Staples heated up very quickly so had to be careful not to melt all the way through the plastic however, once I had practiced a little it was very easy, also best done in a ventilated area as fumes could be an issue. Saved a small fortune buy new draws.

Okay, but as usual these days the instructions are poor.
So a plastic repair kit.Inside is the heat gun itself, a knife, pair of cutters and an assortment of staples. There is also an instruction booklet, which would benefit from being bigger and clearer. A decent step by step on how to use it would make life easier. It all seems quite simple so I tried repairing our recycling bin which has developed two large splits. The staples insert into holes in the end of the tool. A current then passes through it I'm guessing, heating the wire up to a cherry red.You simply press the hot wire into the plastic across the split, release the trigger and allow to cool before pulling the gun away.I found that some staples were not cut cleanly and that slightly malformed ends (from where they were cut I guess) made it tricky to get the wire into the hole. Worse it made getting the gun back off hard. I had to resort to holding the staple legs with pliers before pulling the heat gun off.The majority of the staple were fine though. No detail on how many you should use along a split, some of the the reviews seem to have taken a machine gun approach of as many as will fit along the split ... I went with every couple of inches. Again some guidance in the instructions would be helpful.Once they were all in I used the flat attachment to smooth over them to the best of my ability. This worked okay, and was useful to seal over the staples. You then have to cut the long ends of the staples off with the cutters provided. The cutters I have were quite poorly made with the handles rather wonky but they worked. However they do not cut flush with the surface and leave flesh ripping little sharp points of metal sticking out from what ever you repair. I will have to try going over then with a grinder.Time will tell how strong a repair these kit has enabled. If it fails it could well be operator error but (for the last time) decent instructions would help.
