Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

I liked the nice, tight way all the disparate story lines and characters are intertwined. The acting is excellent all around. I continue to be amazed at the superlative production values. For example, the sets and the costumes, almost like it was filmed in the 1920s. The cars all look a bit too clean and shiny for the time and place, but I'm certain their modern owners wound never stand for any distressing of such a valuable and irreplaceable relic. I was disappointed that Eddie was left wounded on a table with an uncertain prognosis and nothing more was said about his fate. Does he recover and return in Season 4? He deserves more recognition than he's gotten until now. In spite of being a rather mousy and long-suffering background character, he is actually a very brave man. Something I never did quite figure out is why Nucky shot the smart Aleck kid he holes up with in the basement of the booze stash house. Was it simply because the kid was an obnoxious punk who was too smart for his own good? With so many principal characters either dead or out of the picture, how will Nucky go about reclaiming his position as the power broker of Atlantic City? Can't wait for Season 4.

I have the complete series and love the whole thing!

This season is by far the bloodiest as well as the fastest paced of the series. I have to say it is my favorite as the story tightens like a ratchet to a mesmerizing ending that left me wanting more.Nucky has plenty of his own problems with the season starts and they only get worse as his world of corrupt gangsters and politicians turn on him as well as one another. The stand-out goon of this season is Gyp Rosetti who is one of the most menacing characters I have ever watched. You don't want to offend this guy. Believe me. A deeply disturbed psychosis.We also get plenty of Richard Harrow(one of my favorites), Nelson Van Alden(George Muller) and Nucky's new girlfriend Billy turns out to be the most charming female character of the series.Seasons one and two are great but looks like mere preludes to this bomb shell. You will not be disappointed.

I began watching this series after season one. I bought the first two seasons and will soon own the third season. This is five times better than the Sopranos! The life like costumes, the music, the scenery are so original as to be there as the series develops. The characters are all so fabulous and the history so close to what really happened during prohibition that it is difficult to separate the late 1920s in your mind. If the producers and actors choose to let this run the course through mid 1933 there could be many more years of this outstanding series to be seen. If I recall, at the end of the third season the time was just starting out in 1925, and Rothstein, a real life mobster has just been busted by the government as Steve Buscemi's character evades the trap set for him by his enemies. Good Show

Great series and good acting.

I've watched this show since the very beginning, and I LOVE it! I loved the third season, especially the season finale -- "Margate Sands." Was glad when it finally came out on DVD. I had the season finale on my DVR, and I must have watched it about 20 times since last December. Watched all 12 episodes within a couple of days. (I also own the first 2 seasons on DVD). This is one show I will NEVER get tired of watching, and I hope season 4 is just as good as the others. This show ROCKS! Awesome cast of characters! I'M HOOKED!!!

Loved watching Boardwalk Empire when it was on HBO . I bought seasons 1-4 but season 5 is not available for our format region.

Serie gangster con protagonista il grandissimo Steve Buscemi, ambientata negli anni '20, in piena epoca del Proibizionismo. Ricostruzione magistrale di quegl'anni. Una storia vera. Entusiasmante, appassionante, assolutamente travolgente. Straordinari tutti gli interpreti nei loro ruoli.Una serie meravigliosa prodotta da Martin Scorsese, quindi altissimo livello di qualità.Una serie immancabile nella mia collezione. Consigliatissima.

La série perd sa subtilité, là ça flingue à tout va mais avec beaucoup d’humour noir.Le personnage principale montre sa vraie facette et le « méchant » est une vraie ordure.La saison est vraiment bonne mais c’est un condensé de cliché des films de Scorsese, normal puis qu’il est producteur sur la série je crois .

Nachdem es „NUCKY“ THOMPSON (Steve Buscemi) in der vorherigen Staffel mit Mühe und Not geschafft hat seinen Einfluss in Atlantic City wieder herzustellen, steht ihm nun in Person von GYP ROSETTI (Bobby Cannavale) neuer Ärger ins Haus. ROSSETTI ist ein Gefolgsmann des New Yorker Mafiaboss JOE MASSERIA (Ivo Nandi) und äußerst skrupellos und brutal. Er will „NUCKY“ aus dem Geschäft drängen, weil dieser sich weigert an ihn Alkohol zu verkaufen.Auch ELI (Shea Wigham) muss sich seinen Platz zurückerkämpfen, den er wegen seines Gefängnisaufenthalts und dem Verrat an „NUCKY“ verloren hat ….In Staffel drei ist also wieder ordentlich Zündstoff drin, auch darf man sich darüber freuen, dass alle Protagonisten die in der zweiten Staffel nicht das Zeitliche gesegnet haben, wieder mit dabei sind. Besonders gut gefällt mir bei „Boardwalk Empire“, dass man die Handlung durch Figuren aufwertet, die tatsächlich existiert haben. AL CAPONE, MEYER LANSKY, ARNOLD ROTHSTEIN oder „LUCKY“ LUCIANO sind nur einige wenige davon. Das macht die Serie so authentisch und für mich eben auch so reizvoll und interessant.Wie schon in den vorherigen Staffeln auch, haben die Macher wieder sehr viel Wert auf Kostüme und Kulissen gelegt. Es ist ihnen hervorragend gelungen die Atmosphäre und den Spirit der 1920er-Jahre einzufangen, dazu tragen auch die eher farblosen Aufnahmen bei, in denen die Bilder gehalten wurden. Manchmal ist „NUCKYS“ rote Nelke am Anzug der einzige Farbklecks in der ganzen Szene.Ebenso gut gefällt mir, dass die Autoren sich wirklich in jeder Staffel etwas Besonderes einfallen lassen, die Story ist nie vorhersehbar, da gibt es jedes Mal überraschende Wendungen, so eben auch hier wieder.Eine Serie steht und fällt mit ihren Darstellern, auch deswegen gefällt mir „Boardwalk Empire“ so gut. Die Darsteller wurden sehr passend ausgewählt, nicht nur STEVE BUSCEMI, KELLY MACDONALD (Margaret Thompson), SHEA WIGHAM, GRETCHEN MOL (Gilian Darmody) oder STEPHEN GRAHAM (Al Capone), sondern auch BOBBY CANNAVALE, der dieses Mal den Bösewicht „Gyp Rosetti“ spielt. Es stehen immer die Hauptprotagonisten im Mittelpunkt, aber das „Salz in der Suppe“ sind die Nebendarsteller. Können diese ebenfalls überzeugen, sind sie das i-Tüpfelchen, das aus einer guten Serie eine sehr gute macht … und dem ist hier definitiv so.Ein kleines Wehrmutströpfchen dürfte sein, dass die Menüführung komplett auf Italienisch ist, so viel ich weiß ist das kein Fehler, das soll wohl so sein ... warum auch immer?! Vielleicht stört das den einen oder anderen Käufer, ich persönlich finde es nicht so dramatisch, was interessiert mich die Menüführung, Hauptsache die die Folgen sind spannend. Man findet sich auch so zurecht ...Mein Fazit: „Boardwalk Empire“ gehört zu meinen Lieblingsserien, ich habe jede Staffel förmlich verschlungen. Die dritte Staffel ist vielleicht sogar die beste, in jedem Fall muss sie sich nicht vor den ersten beiden verstecken. Die Geschichte wird zügig und gänzlich ohne Längen weitererzählt, wer die ersten Staffel schon mochte, der wird von dieser begeistert sein.

Espléndida, extraordinarias. Me ha encantado. Me lo he pasado mejor que en la 2ª temporada. Que saquen pronto la 4ª.
