ZEFALStandpumpe Tubeless Tank

I bought the Zefal Tubeless Tank after messing around for hours, trying to get my GravelKing tubeless tyres to inflate on my DT Swiss rims.It's very easy to use (once you have your tyre correctly seated on the rim). You use your track pump to put air into the tank to approx 100psi, disconnect the pump, then use the airline from the tank to connect to the valve on your wheel. Then you press down on the top of the tank with your foot, and the tyre inflates! You can hear the tell tale signs of creaking, cracking and popping whilst the tyre beads fit to the rim, once it's all settled down you disconnect the valve. Finally, you can let a bit of pressure out of the tyre, refit the wheel to your bike and then set the correct pressure using your track pump.Once slight criticism is that the unit shipped from Amazon Europe in a bag, without any protective box. The exterior of the device is made from rigid ABS type plastic, and whilst it's quite rugged I was genuinely surprised that it hadn't chipped or smashed in transit. However, on the flip side, if it can be shipped across europe without breaking, then surely that's testament to it's robustness.

It needed two cycles to pop in my 29"x 2.5" WTB Verdict MTB tyre, but worked perfectly. I also purchased the Zefal Profil Max FP30 track pump to get the accumulator all the way up to 10 bar each time. The inlet to the accumulator (to pressurise it) is a Presta fitting (so suits the track pump which has the Z-Switch system) the outlet hose also suits a Presta fitting, but has a nice aluminimum screwed attachment, which is actually quite useful to allow you to slowly let the air out of the tyre when its popped on to the rim. I removed the Presta valve core on the tyre before I started. My overall procedure:1. Remove tyre valve core2. Connect accumulator outlet hose3. Connect track pump4. Pressurise to 10 bar5. Discharge accumulator6. Re-pressurise accumulator to 10 bar7. Discharge accumulator8. Slowly release pressure in tyre with outlet connection hose fitting9. Add tubeless sealant as required/directed and refit your valve core and pump up your tyreThe outlet hose tidies away under the accumulator. Overall a nice bit of kit and does the job very well.

Usually I chose Zefal products because they are a bit better than the rest but this is decidedly second rate. The longer tube to connect the reservoir to the wheel/valve seems like a good idea but it just slows down the air release. The friction fit to the valve on the end of the air tube seems like a good idea but pops off. There is no valve on the "input" / pump side which I am convinced caused my pump to fail.So buy something cheaper and better.

Easy to use. Popped tubeless tyre straight into rim when other 'solutions' shown on You Tube didn't.
