Sweet, thought-provoking, haunting, wonderful...
During the travel literature “boomlet” of the 1990s, the tiny independent publisher “Travelers' Tales” seemingly emerged from out of nowhere (but actually from San Francisco) to become what I considered the genre’s gold standard. In the year 2000 I was thrilled when the group's principals chose to publish my book “Take Me With You,” and then in early 2017 I was further flattered when they asked me to write the introduction for their latest endeavor: “The Soul of a Great Traveler.”Travelers' Tales editors sifted through a decade’s worth of submissions before selecting their special favorites, and the result is this sterling and stirring collection of thirty stories — some of them sweet, some of them thought-provoking, all of them thoroughly demanding of this reader's attention. Each story is a precious stone, with no two alike (actually, no two even struck me as being similar), and I suspect that I will forever remember (and will probably forever be haunted by) several of them. Your favorites will almost certainly be different than mine, but if you love a good story of travel and transformation (and who doesn't?), I believe that you really cannot go wrong here.

Many different but interesting travel stories
This was a wonderful collection of short travel stories, covering a myriad of different areas of the world, and different types of travel. I definitely recommend this to anybody that is interested in travel and other areas of the world. The interesting part was that some of these travels weren't even that far from me.
