Love this device... wish I could watch cable DVR on it!
We had an original Amazon Echo in the kitchen. Tiny... plugged into a socket...done! It wasn't very loud, and had a crappy speaker, but I figured it was good for turning things on/off, basic stuff. So when the annual sales came around, I saw a deal on this thing. Compared it to other devices...the smaller, rounded ones, even the larger Show... this one is perfect! It's nestled inbetween things against the wall on the counter - didn't think it would look good mounted. It's for the kitchen. When cooking, I can watch some channels, even Amazon Prime video. Too bad it won't connect to our Verizon DVR - need a larger Echo Show for that, apparently! But it's got a fast response, can get very loud, and so far, the WiFi has been decent. Not sure how to limit pictures of things I've been searching using my Amazon account, though! Sometimes, I don't want my wife to see the gifts for her that I'm investigating! This thing gives it away. Probably a setting to fix that. Once we get the AI up to ChatGPT-level, you'll be able to have full-blown conversations! A plus.. we have an ARLO camera system. Until this, we'd only been able to view them via the app. I can simply say, "Ziggy," - yeah, we named it Ziggy - "show me the Front Door.." and voila, the Front Door appears! That's very handy for checking when someone's at the door and we're in the kitchen. Like all the other Alexa devices, this one does the same things, and has other features, like gestures..which I tried, but didn't figure out how to use yet. Mostly, we use it to turn the multiple WiFi-based Kasa devices I have in the kitchen - LED under-cabinet lights, color-changing, and overhead lighting. It's pretty durable.. and the basic stand works well. It doesn't take up much room, which is a plus, but the screen is very clear, and bright! And...it's the best sound I've ever heard from an Alexa device. It's definitely changed the kitchen experience for us!

Can't Keep Lyrics On Screen when playing music-Problem Solved!
The lyrics display for only a minute or less when playing music and then turns on the sleep screen date time and temp. I've tried all the so-called "bug fixes" and nothing works. Very disappointed. My grandson has the earlier version and it works just fine. I've updated all the software and tried various other suggested fixes but no luck. May have to return it. Our main reason for buying was for the music and the lyrics display. Very disappointed. It seems even Amazon doesn't have the answer. The software is apparently ahead of the tech support. UPDATE: I just received a call from Amazon Outreach Support. Since writing this review last night I was able to glean a, although somewhat awkward, solution to keep the sleep screen at bay. Involves adjusting the start and end times in the nighttime setting. Somewhere online (not an Amazon website) someone suggested setting the start time to 12PM and end time to 12PM for the next day. This worked. However the sleep screen never returned and it scrolled all kinds of ads, suggestions, etc., endlessly while the Echo was idle. Overnight I had the notion that since we listen to our music mainly within a window of approx 6 or 7PM to somewhere late into the evening, maybe resetting those times for our window of music would resolve both issues. Right now my date/time/temp screen is stable. Tonight we will find out. Hope to get back with an update of good news. BTW, I did change my rating to 4 stars. It's a good product otherwise. The sound quality is A+ and I have a lot to learn about it yet. Update. Still no resolution to the lyrics display problem. Tried all kinds of stuff nothing works. No solution from Amazon. I’ll keep it but not happy with that point. Enjoy the date time temp clock while playing music instead of music display. FURTHER UPDATE 3.18.24: Still unable to solve the problem, and Amazon has not provided a solution. In all fairness, I should add that the lyrics only show for Amazon Music...other sources do not have the lyrics capability. My issue applies only to playing Amazon Music. I have decided to keep the device anyway, as it is a great product and I am learning new things about it everyday. So if you don't care about music lyrics, buy it and enjoy. UPDATE 4.06.24: I would like potential customers to know that today I installed a new software update that corrected the problem of the lyrics disappearing behind the sleep screen! YAY! I have now given this device 5 stars. Apparently they do listen to our complaints.

Wish I would have gotten this a long time ago. Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this device!
I absolutely love my echo show age 3rd generation! Perhaps legal upgrade someday to a bigger one, but for now this is perfect for my table next to my bed. I can use it to watch Netflix and all kinds of other things you can watch on their different apps. You can get on the Internet. You can listen to music you can listen to books I mean I’ve gotten so much use out of it and I just absolutely love. I can’t believe I didn’t have one sooner. I highly recommend this. I plan on hooking my security camera and they will also integrate with this item . I’m pretty sure it will hook up to a smart Home items especially they will if they work with Alexa. It’s easy to set up. I’m also buying a battery stand for it so I can take it with me when it gets warmer out outside if I want to when I go to sit on the porch or whatever I do outside. The music sounds great on it! The quality of watching movies or videos on it is great also. You also configure it with your Alexa app, which is very easy to do. It’s pretty much self-explanatory when you’re setting it up. it’s easy personalized for the things that you would like on there. I’ve spent some time going through all the little things that has on that you can do and it’s just there’s so much to do. I can’t even name everything. It’s great. I recommend that wouldn’t get that you know Jesus smart devices. I plan on hooking the external Bluetooth speaker up to it also. Corino, it’s very easy to ask questions like you on on any other electric device. The connectivity is great besides it just perfect. and like I said, it’s very easy to use very easy to set up and the controls on top of it or very easy. There’s only a few of them to do so there’s the volume up and down and the on button and the little switch if you’d like to turn the camera off, so you know if you feel more comfortable, not having the camera on oh and also you can use it as a camera in the room that it’s in and watch it from your phone from the Alexa app. It’s great that way if I think someone’s in my room, I can just turn on the camera from my phone app and see if someone’s in there or what’s going on in there. And it has two way talking on it if you wanna talk to the person in the room.. And really it’s not very heavy at all. I’m excited to get the battery to put on it to see how it is the carried around like that so when I go outside, you can have it also. Great device the great device for sure I wish I would’ve gotten a lot sooner.

The perfect kitchen companion
I absolutely love my white Amazon Echo Show 8—it has become one of the most useful and enjoyable additions to my kitchen. The clean white design looks modern and minimal, and it blends beautifully with my kitchen décor without feeling bulky or out of place on the counter. One of my favorite things about it is how convenient it makes everyday tasks. While I’m cooking, I can simply ask Alexa to pull up recipes, set multiple timers, convert measurements, or add items to my grocery list without having to stop what I’m doing. The 8-inch screen is the perfect size—large enough to easily read recipes or watch quick cooking videos, but compact enough that it doesn’t take up too much counter space. I also love using it to play music or podcasts while I’m in the kitchen. The sound quality is surprisingly great, filling the room without sounding tinny or too loud. It makes cooking, cleaning, and even just making coffee in the morning feel more enjoyable. Another feature I use a lot is the ability to quickly check the weather, calendar reminders, and news while I’m starting my day. The display quality is bright and clear, and the touchscreen is very responsive. It’s also nice that it can show rotating photos when it’s idle—it almost feels like a digital picture frame, which adds a cozy touch to the kitchen. Overall, the Echo Show 8 has been incredibly practical and fun to use. It keeps me organized, entertained, and makes cooking so much easier. If you’re looking for a smart display that’s functional, stylish, and easy to use, I highly recommend it. It has truly become a little kitchen assistant that I didn’t realize I needed but now wouldn’t want to live without.

Strong device, with one important limitation
The Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen) is a solid smart display and, for most uses, one of the better-balanced Echo devices Amazon currently sells. As a smart home hub, it’s responsive and reliable. The display is the right size for a nightstand or kitchen, Alexa responses are quick, and features like photo display, calendars, reminders, and smart device control work exactly as expected. Spatial Audio is a nice upgrade, and for single-device playback, sound quality is very good for its size. Where this device falls short is as a Multi-Room Music (MRM) participant. When used in MRM groups over time, the Show 8 (3rd Gen) can introduce audio instability—brief pauses, delayed volume changes, or momentary desync compared to non-display Echo devices. These issues don’t always show up immediately and may appear only after extended uptime or repeated group playback sessions. Reboots typically restore normal behavior temporarily. To be clear, this isn’t a constant failure and doesn’t make the device unusable—but it does mean the Show 8 isn’t as reliable in whole-home audio setups as standard Echo speakers. In my experience, Echo Dots, Studios, and other non-display models are better long-term citizens in MRM groups. Used on its own, or primarily as a smart display with occasional music, the Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen) performs well and is easy to recommend. If your main goal is reliable, always-on whole-home audio, you may want to limit display devices in your MRM groups or use them sparingly. Overall, this is a very good smart display—just not the strongest choice as a core component in a multi-room audio system.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG!! Love this Alexa!! It has it all - keeps my appointments handy, can display pictures, keeps date/time and temperature on display and more! It connects to Ring and Blink camera's - amazing!! Product feels heavy, great quality is versatile - I mean I couldn't have ask for anything more!! I haven't tried it, but I can call my sister who also has an Alexa and the screen will display the caller. Plays music - like WOW!! I'm still figuring this out but I love it so much I highly recommend!! It was easy to install and use. Absolutely no regrets!! Thanks Amazon!!

Amazon has absolutely gone mad.
I have a total of 7 Alexa devices. They used to work great. Then the dot started blinking all the time and Amazon discontinued it. I kept it because it still accepted commands. Apparently that wouldn't do, so they made it start making a high-pitched digital noise until I threw it away. All other devices were working fine, as were speaker groups and routines. I ordered this device to replace the spot. They should tell you that it can be connected to bluetooth OR be connected to a speaker group, not both, so you're stuck with the tinny speakers if you're on a group. PLUS, it MADE me upgrade my app to the new Alexa+-enabled app. Now, I'm stuck with 7 devices that act like they are possessed. The Show 8 is the worst of all of them. Slow, poor response, acts like it's running on Windows ME. Speaker groups no longer work (did all troubleshooting and the BEST I can get is the speakers on the same floor connected in one group, but I wanted ALL Alexa devices on all floors connected - that is the ONLY reason I did not buy Apple HomePods instead.) Show cannot show my security cameras, even though they are connected via skills and all cameras are online and working in their respective apps. It REFUSES to accept that I don't want to use Amazon Prime Music (is it so hard to understand that I want to listen to a whole album I have saved in Apple versus letting a device randomly pick a mix for me from yet ANOTHER Amazon service I have to subscribe to? I have set my preferred app to Apple and Show ignores that as though it never was toggled. MOST of the time when I ask to have something played on my speaker group, it plays only on the Flex (HORRID sound - I only have a flex to be able to add items to the shopping list from the laundry room) or it won't play the album I ask for or it won't play it from Apple, or it plays one song and stops. Playing an album on repeat is a no-go. My routines are now jacked up. Alexa will no longer override settings on Nest thermostat so if it is seat on heat/cool and I want to switch to heat and pick a specific temp versus a range, I cannot do that. Amazon is slowly phasing out older devices that still work well by saying they can no longer be connected to speaker groups (strange, they were working just fine before the app "upgrade." I called customer service and was basically told, this service (Alexa+ is in testing phase (not even Beta, somewhere BEFORE Alpha) and they decided to have Prime members be the audience to test the garbage app. They are providing zero updates to employees or customers as to when they will have the app fixed. So right now, I have seven paperweights with varying degrees of uselessness (an older sho, this new show 8, a new dot, two older dots, a flex, and the original Alexa that I had to get on a waiting list to get. The only thing that seems to work consistently well is the flex (go figure - no screen, crappy speakers, no ability to plug anything into it). DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANY AMAZON ALEXA DEVICE UNTIL THEY STOP THIS NONSENSE.

Huge Upgrade — Amazing Sound and Super Smart
The Echo Show 8 completely exceeded my expectations. The new spatial audio makes a massive difference — music, videos, and Alexa responses sound fuller and clearer than any previous Echo I’ve owned. The screen is bright and sharp, perfect for quick info, recipes, or video calls. Setup was fast, and the built‑in smart home hub instantly recognized my devices. It feels like a true centerpiece for an open living space, exactly as advertised. The performance is smooth, the camera quality is solid, and the whole device feels premium. For the price, this is one of the best smart displays you can get. Highly recommended.

Helps me in multiple ways, totally happy with it :)
Works perfectly as advertised. This device saves me a lot of trouble and time and I am enjoying using it. Helps me remember things like noting down grocery, reminders etc. Sound Quality is amazing, the bass was not something I expected out of this device, would give an extra star just for that :) There are rolling ads, would I prefer not having it? defintely yes, does it bother me? not really, so I am cool with it. Weather reports are sucha boon, I can plan my day perfectly thanks to this device letting me know ahead of time about it. I also use it to view my Ezviz cameras and it integrates perfectly with it. The only thing I wish would have been different was the cord and the camera shutter color, should have been black if the device color is black. Overall, a purchase I do not regret all :)

Fabulous device!
I’m absolutely loving my Alexa, I have the echo show 8 in glacier white. I have the original 2018 HomePods that I’ve been using since 2018 and they just have let me down repeatedly. Apple hasn’t really added anything new at all nor have they continued innovating the HomePod line like Amazon has with their various echo “Alexa” enabled devices. I cost ask my HomePods much without it telling me I can’t, but Alexa on the other hand has an answer for pretty much everything and that is soooo much better to have around. The sound quality of the device is actually amazing. Having only ever used apples HomePod and seeing the quality of friends and family’s older echos and google homes, I always thought HomePod was the top. But echo show 8 is literally on par with a HomePod. It truly lives up to the “spatial audio” name. The screen quality is actually pretty good for being a basic screen. It’s overall pretty responsive to the point it’s not annoying to use. The built in camera quality is pretty good as well! Only thing it suffers with is being placed in direct sunlight. But when positioned correctly it’s a pretty good picture quality. The built in smarts of Alexa are way beyond what I’m use too. I purchased a fire tv 4K max as well and have found out that you can control the entire thing hands free, and not just basic on/off, find X…show. But you can ask Alexa to scroll left/right/down/up and ask her to select items onscreen. I can be all nice a cozy in my blanket wrapped up and get Alexa to click the next episode button for me…… worth the price of all of it right there! Siri could never! I’m impressed with Alexa and absolutely cannot wait for Alexa+ to make it even better.
