Yes, it does keep items cold...NO, it does not have the advertised ice retention. Let me also say that I put (3) 64 oz bottles of ice (frozen juice bottles) into it the night before we left for a camping trip to pre cool it...they were, to the coolers credit, still 95% frozen 4 days later....BUT, in upper 80's to mid 90's temps last weekend, we still went through a 20# bag of ice cubes every day. I expected better ice retention than that. To be fair to the cooler, it was a camping trip, so needless to say, in and out of the cooler several times a day. And yes, we did have it packed full....air is an ice enemy. As I said, it kept food quite cold, just that it went through more ice than I had expected. The secure lid locks also did keep the raccoons out of it, they were nightly visitors to the camping site.

3 days of travel with it 1/2 filled with frozen food and it was just as frozen when we got to Yuma, AZ.

The lid arrived bowed and doesn't seal.

Best cooler we have ever had.

Great cooler American made. Very well built with lots of room inside for a week long camping trip or large group outing. Holds temperature very well and handy cargo net storage on back of cooler. Not as expensive as some of the other brands but just as well made. I guess the best thing I can say about it is, if I bought another one I would buy this one.
