A Professional Tool for Flawless Brand Colour Consistency
As I'm developing my new YouTube channel, maintaining precise brand colour consistency across everything from digital motion graphics to printed materials is absolutely critical. I needed a professional-grade tool to eliminate guesswork, and the Nix Spectro L has been phenomenal. It's a serious piece of kit that delivers laboratory-level accuracy in a compact, handheld device. Getting started was incredibly straightforward. The device paired instantly with the Nix Toolkit app on my phone, and the app itself is well-designed and intuitive. It provides a huge amount of data without being overwhelming, allowing you to easily switch between measurement modes and get instant readings for CMYK, RGB, HEX, and LAB values, which is exactly what's needed for a hybrid digital and print workflow. The accuracy is where this device truly shines. I've used it to scan physical colour swatches and instantly get the exact digital data to use in my video editing software, ensuring a perfect match between my physical and digital brand assets. The Delta-E function is a game-changer for quality control, allowing me to numerically compare a new print run against my master colour standard to see if it's within an acceptable tolerance. The inclusion of M0, M1, and M2 measurement modes is a key professional feature, giving me confidence that I'm getting accurate readings regardless of the paper stock or the presence of optical brighteners. The ability to compare scans against the major colour libraries like Pantone and RAL is incredibly useful. For my own brand, I've created a custom library within the app. Now, I can scan any material a t-shirt, a business card, a sticker and instantly check if the colour is a perfect match to my brand guidelines. It has completely streamlined my quality control process. The Nix Spectro L is a powerful, portable, and remarkably easy-to-use spectrophotometer. It's a significant investment, but for any creative professional, graphic designer, or brand manager who is serious about colour accuracy and consistency, it's an invaluable tool. It provides the data and the confidence needed to ensure your colours are perfect, every single time.

Setup wasn't quick
When I received this I read that it needed charging. This took about 4 hours. The idea was to charge it until the light went green to say it was fully charged and then it would connect to the app. However there isn't any basic buttons on it so trying to connect it by leaving it to charge then trying to connect was frustrating when nothing would work . Eventually I read that sometimes they need a reset so I pressed the reset button using a paper clip. It still wouldn't connect, but I did see it show under Bluetooth this time, so I tried to connect to that. It didn't. However magically the app was able to connect. Unsure if this process is what woke it up but it was annoying. Once it had connected everything worked flawlessly. Placing the end onto a surface and clicking the measurement button, it returned a colour value for whatever it touched. Clean results are given if you can place the object over the sensor without gaps and if it's a translucent item then put a dark backing on it. This stops other lights interfering. I tried this on some paint as I needed to patch part of a wall. The colour value result was given and I took this to the shop to have the colour mixed. I was surprised when it was spot on. Very useful device.

Incredibly Accurate
I've been very impressed with this spectrophotometer, especially it's accuracy. Set up was quick and straightforward and the app layout is clean and it's easy to switch between modes, and I particularly like that you store colour readings into collections which is incredibly useful when working on a project. It's so very easy to use and all the features work exactly as described. It's not the cheapest on the market, but you absolutely get what you pay for in terms of accuracy. If you work with paint, interiours, home decor or renovation you need this tool. Definitely worth the investment in my opinion. I'm very happy to recommend.

Superior quality spectrophotometer from Nix, to scan and compare colours, small for travel
This Nix spectrophotometer arrived in a hard back case which was packaged in clear plastic. Inside the case is the spectrophotometer, diagnostic tiles, a lanyard, and a USB Type-C charging cable. It is made in Canada and is designed for professional use when dealing with colours for printing, graphic design, or paint matching. It contains a built-in Lithium Polymer battery which takes a few hours to initially charge up before using it for the first time. It can scan a colour and using the free Nix Toolkit app on your Android or Apple device, can display the information regarding the colour. It may take a little while to get the app up and running, and linked to the device, but once it is working then the app performs fine. It looks a strange device but feels extremely good quality and durable so it should last a long time. It is also small enough to carry with you and scan colours when out and about that need reproducing. It has a 9 channel sensor which is upscaled to 31 channels across the visible spectrum. It is extremely accurate whe measuring colours, and gives you all the information you need about a colour, or allows you to compare different colours for a perfect match even when the colours look the same to the eye. Good quality and recommended for any business involved in colour production including printing and paints.

For ensuring consistent and correct colour accuracy every single time, the Nix Spectro L is an excellent choice. It's small, very accurate, it connects to apps on your phone, and it comes in a pretty substantial carrying case. It's a very expensive product, yes, but considering the market and usual prices for these kinds of products it does seem more than fair. If you run a small business where colour accuracy is important then something like the Nix Spectro L is a no-brainer.

This Color analyzer saved me lots of $$$$ when I had to fight my HOA about paint color for the outside of my house. I was able to analyze all neighborhood colors that didn't seem to match the allowable color scheme. After submitting my data provided by Nix the HOA board had to revisit my color submissions or face legal action.

Liegt durch sein Gewicht gut in der Hand und scheint relativ genau zu sein.

Dieses Gerät bringt Farbe in meinen Arbeitsalltag – und zwar genau die richtige!

I was going to give this 3 stars because of the terrible app but the device itself is so accurate and consistent, I can't. Word of warning, if you are going to use this to scan multiple patches in batch, it's a nightmare with the app. The only way to scan a collection of colors is to create a collection and the problem is, it forces you to type a color name and a color code for every single patch. Manually. There's no way to just have it auto-name if you want to just scan patches and number them. There's a Pro app that looks like it could do that but that's $99/mo which is really shady!
