Great speed data transfer (iphone to W. Pc)
Great quality, great speed. I use it as an external storage drive to transfer data from my iPhone to my Windows PC using an enclosure. It works perfectly. You just need to make sure the enclosure supports the full speed this SSD can offer.

Excellent choice.
5/1/25 WD_BLACK 1TB SN770M M.2 2230 NVMe SSD for handheld gaming devices, Speeds up to 5,150MB/s, TLC 3D NAND, Great for Steam Deck and Microsoft Surface - WDBDNH0010BBK-WRSN7mo use so far so good. I purchased this brand because it was a little less cost that the other brand I wanted.I am happy to say I am content and happy with the speed used for the surface pro 9.Easy to install and it works just fine. enough space for apps/software.I rarely to never give 5 stars, but this was fits my criteria for a perfect product. I could not find a flaw or have any complaints.

Easy install on a Surface 9 Pro
Surface 9 Pro updated flawlessly, not seeing heat issues.. maybe when charging but I doubt it, it is actually a little cooler than the Microsoft w heatsink by a couple of degrees

Fast little guy
Put this guy in an NVME-to-CFExpress type B adapter. I can record 8k N-Raw (HQ) with a Z8 (690MB/s data rate). I don't need to, but its nice to know it can handle it. 20fps RAW is about 620MB/s, so not going to outrun the buffer with stills.Reads at over 1GB/s when offloading.

Great for Steam Deck
I purchased 2 of these to upgrade Steam Decks. I did some research and read about other options that might run hot. These work perfectly with no issues, even when the Steam Deck is played all day.

Cooked in a Day, Trying Again
TLDR; Make sure you install a heatsink. The 25x25x10mm heatsink does *not* fit in the ROG Ally.I installed this in my ROG Ally, installed Windows, Steam, etc. During my first round of game installs the system threw a BSOD, which I wrote off as a quirk. It booted back up and everything was fine. I started the install for Cyberpunk and left for dinner. When I got back, the system was hung. I got HWINFO going before I attempting the install again and the drive temp was running at 70c when idle. I started the install and the temp went up to 77c but I was still out of the "danger zone" of the low 80s. Some time before the install finished, another BSOD.I pulled the drive and put it in an SSK enclosure without the cover so that it could be tested with HD Tune. After a full scan all blocks read successfully, but one had a low read speed in the speed map. When I attempted to retest the range I got nothing but errors. I closed and re-opened the program, but more errors. I unplugged the drive to reseat it in the enclose and it was running HOT. I couldn't see the drive temp over USB, but I imagine high 70s is probably accurate. I decided to just call the drive fried and get a replacement. Before installing the replacement I went ahead and added the standard "Steam Deck SSD Heatsink". I also had a pair of 14x10x4 aluminum heatsinks with an adhesive backing that came in a "100 Pcs Raspberry Pi Heatinsk" kit I had sitting around, so I slapped those on top of the copper heat spreader. After reinstalling Windows, updates and drivers I'm seeing temps ranging from 50c at idle to 67c under load. As I get back to installing games I'll see if the temps stay under control or not.Is it possible that my first drive ran hot because it was a dud? Sure. Is the heat spreader totally unnecessary? Maybe. Did the stick on fins have any affect at all? No idea. I will say that considering this drive is specifically advertised for Steam Deck/ROG Ally use, I do think that WD should include a heatsink with the drive or offer it as an addon similar to those hard cases they sell for portable HDDs.

Exactly what I needed
Followed the ifixit guide for replacing and installing into a steam deck. Zero issues and a noticeable increase in speed for storage writes on the steam deck
