Unique, easy-to-use etching cream for porcelain, ceramic and glazed tile. Replaces the hard work of sanding; shortens prep time up to 80%. Review: i love the stuff!!! - so i bought this before i read the previous review and i thought ' i just wasteds $30!' tyrns out, the stuff is great. i use a brush to glob it on thick. Wait about 5 - 10 min. Wipe it off. Put it back in container and wash the glass with warm water. I'm so glad the other guy was wrong. Maybe he didn't put it on thick enough. It works on glass (not Pyrex), mirror, and metal. It doesn't seem to work on porcelain like it says it does. Considering that glass etching is now my primary income, I'm really glad it works and its reusable. I've used it since like the second week of Dec, and it doesn't look like I've even used it. Whew! Thanks to whoever created this stuff! I do sugest wearing latex or rubber gloves. The stuff is pretty potent. Check out what I use it for on [email protected] Review: Time saver! - Awesome stuff! I threw a large 50th birthday bash at a winery and wanted to spray wine bottles with chalkboard paint...I started to sand them and realized how long that would take...so I found this. The stuff is great! You do need to put a generous amount on the surface and it should be where there is very little draft and it is cool. My first try I wasn't heavy handed with it and it was 85 degrees out - even though I was in the shade, the product "dried" and was hard to get it all off. My second attempt was on a much cooler day and I used a rubber spatula to scrape the product off and back into the tub. I etched about 36 bottles and barely made a dent in the use of product.

gave me a nice rough surface for adhesion
this stuff works. i used it to etch my porcelain American Standard toilet so i could paint it something other than hideous white. i used acetone to thoroughly clean the surface, applied this etch, waited 10 minutes, then washed it off with water. cleaned off no problem. used acetone again to remove any residual scum. gave me a nice rough surface for adhesion. completely removed that glossy finish from the porcelain. i then painted with some rustoleum aged metallic primer/paint spray paint, and the four layers of spray lacquer. looks great. got good adhesion and no delamination.

Etching products are not the same!!
I have used another product, Etchall a bunch of times with great results. I was being cheap here and didn't want to pay the price for Etchall as i had a large glass door to do. I followed directions to the T on this product. Horrible results. Very streaky, thought the door was ruined. It is in a rental, the tenant said it looked like a squid slid down the door leaving behind slime. I am normally very hesitant to bash a product, but after 7 tries, longer and longer times each try and it still looked like crap, I am really unhappy with this product. I called owner of Etchall, went and picked up their product and did the door one more time....got rid of almost all the streaks and it is close to perfect. It is too late for me to get a refund from Amazon, so I'm stuck, but I recommend using the right thing the first time! First 2 pics are door after 7 tries with this product, 3rd pic is after 1 try with Etchall.

Not impressed
This is a gel product, a plus. It does work if you slather on SUPER THICK and leave set overnight, but it doesn't work as well as other products.
