Famous book of Sonnets
A gift for lovers, and persons dear to you. Robert Browning called them the best sonnets after Shakespeare.

Don't buy the Kindle version
The poetry is lovely. But unfortunately, the version edited by Peterson and Markus with the poems interspersed by excerpts from the correspondence between Browning and Barrett are not what you get in the Kindle edition. The Kindle edition is just a scanned version of very poorly printed edition of the sonnets. Disappointed.

If you've an ounce of romance, read this [book].
Women romantic writers tend to be overly sentimental for me (and I like a good love story!). And poetess' are even more prone to being mawkish. But every now and then you get a woman who can really write about love (Rosa Hartwick Thorpe), and none were better at it than Ms. Browning. No wonder Robert Browning fell in love with her on her letters alone. Watch the Barretts of Wimpole Street, then read Sonnets of the Portuguese, then watch the film again. Ms. Browning, your sonnets took you past every male writer alive or dead. Thank you for this beautiful collection of sonnets.
