Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth & Babies
T**E
You need this book if you want to use oils in your pregnancy.
I recently started using doTerra essential oils and also became pregnant with our third child. I am really looking to having a more natural and holistic experience with this pregnancy and birth. I trust the authors choices and am looking forward to trying her recommendations. There seem to be many women who have used these oils for healthy pregnancies & babies and I intend to listen to my doctor as well as follow the books suggestions. She recommends only doTerra essential oils, so be safe and stick to this brand, at least you will know they are tried and true; safe to ingest and use topically. I also have a doterra website www.mydoterra.com/theresamichalec just in case anyone is looking to try doTerra. Good Luck! Feel free to message me on that site to see how the baby is doing and how I feel using the protocols from the book! i will be honest! This book also makes a great gift for pregnant friends or those who have recently given birth.

Finally hope for a pleasant pregnancy!
This is a MUST have for EVERY pregnant woman. I've had two children, and both pregnancies were very difficult on me. Debilitating nausea for 5 months, then debilitating back pain until birth. My first birth was beautiful and my second was too, but it was very loooong and I suffered from ppd after number 2.I'm crazy, so here I am pregnant again with baby number 3 ;) Only between my last baby and this one I discovered essential oils. A few friends recommended this book, and I read through it in one sitting - I couldn't put it down! It addresses EVERY. SINGLE. ISSUE. I had with my previous pregnancies, births and post partum! These pages are packed with usable, doable information to aid in a healthy and pleasant pregnancy and beyond. I am filled with hope that this pregnancy, birth, and post partum experience will be easier on me then my previous two.I'll add an update in 8 months ;)

Not for Everyone
Before I review and recommend this book, it would be important to inform the reader that this book was written from a standpoint of a person using DoTerra essential oils. Product names specific to the company are used throughout the book and would cause confusion to those using a different brand. That being said, I purchased this book hoping to find some relief from common issues in pregnancy such as heartburn, leg cramps, etc. Much of it proved to be very helpful as my leg cramps stopped upon following recommendations in this book. There were some other suggestions mentioned that were not oil related that I'm glad I followed as I am confident it helped make my delivery smoother (ie: no sugar during final trimester). Personally, I would not feel comfortable following her suggestions of ingesting oils during pregnancy, but I definitely would recommend following the aromatherapy and topical applications.

Finding the blends mentioned is difficult
The book refers to grounding, calming, digestive blend very often. I still canโt find what oils go into these blends and Iโm very frustrated. Good info, but all blends should be in one simple section and easy to find.

Best book for Essential Oil Users on Pregnancy
I am a very avid essential oil user and have been teaching people how to use essential oils to improve their health for 4 years. I work in the healthcare industry which has enabled me to be able to use essential oils better. One thing I had been looking for was a good resource on essential oils and pregnancy. So many out there just don't really give you the information you need. I found this book to be extremely helpful when teaching and even more so when my wife was pregnant with our daughter. This book showed us how to use the oils in a safe manner and still maximize their benefit. I have since bought this book for several of my friends who use essential oils and are or were pregnant. I think this book is a valuable resource for all OB doctors, Mid wives, birthing centers, childbirth educators, and anyone who is a parent wanting to help your baby grow healthy!

Useful, but not much scientific back-up
I was really looking forward to getting this book, as I often receive questions about essential oils and pregnancy in my line of work. However, first impressions are everything, and off the bat, I was not impressed with the way the book is written. The author speaks mainly from her experience as a midwife, which I have no doubt is valuable, but I was hoping for more scientific reassurance that certain oils are safe in pregnancy. I also found a few grammatical and other errors in just reading it for 15 minutes, which made me cringe - I don't mean to be the "editing police," but professionals need to understand the impression even the smallest error can give! When the author says, for instance, that a certain grade of oil "far exceed(s) the FDA standards for purity" (page 19), it caused me to question everything else I would read, since I know that the FDA does not even regulate essential oils.On the positive side, there is a lot of information in this book that I have not learned before. I did not have essential oils when I was pregnant, so it's important to me to learn as much as I can for the sake of others. I do think this book can give readers a lot of suggestions and remedies for conditions of pregnancy/post-pregnancy, and also provides some general information on nutrition and fertility. In that sense, I believe the book will be a very useful resource - I am sure I will refer to it often, despite my initial disappointment!

Doterra or Young Living?
Some of the reviews were complaining this was a big add for DoTerra Essential Oils.Well, if you do any research you'll find the two top producers of quality oils are DoTerra and Young Living.I happen to belong to the Young Living crowd.Even still I found this book very helpful.Yes, the author does recommend DT oil blends, because *that's what she knows*. If anything, find out the ingredients in those blends and make your own!She gave a lot of good tips on using oils throughout pregnancy, labor, and newborn stages.Even though she mentions DoTerra frequently I didn't find it off putting, or under pressure to buy DoTerra - just gave me more ideas on how to deal with this pregnancy.

you will be very happy as Stephanie gives very specific uses for Doterra oils ...
First of all, If you only use Doterra oils, you will be very happy as Stephanie gives very specific uses for Doterra oils plus testimonies from other people who have used the oils during pregnancy. It's not a very big book, but perfect for flipping through when you are looking for a specific protocol for a area of concern. If you were looking for a general book for essential oils in pregnancy you will be disappointed. I happen to use Doterra essential oils but I had a few cringe moments when reading what I felt were blatant "plugs"in trying to sell Doterra oils.
