The thinner inside strap is what goes through the watch "pins" and then goes to the velcro. I've been using it for almost a year and couldn't be happier with it's performance. I use it hard as a work watch.

Q: Can someone help me figure out how to put the watch on it! Sheesh.

Take off your old/ original band. Insert just the pins back into your watch. Thread "the band" down and under your watch, between the pin and watch body. Then up and through the pin and watch body. If it feels awkward to wrap it on your wrist, you may want to reverse the order. I wear mine on my left hand so I would start "down and through" at the 6 o'clock position. Then the start point of your "wrap" you'll just learn with time and what feels best. You'll never find a more comfortable watch band. Super easy on and off.

Q: how long does the band last? looking for something that lasts many years with everyday wear.

The band will probably give you one to two years of literal use and abuse. All depends really on how much you take it on and off. The Velcro is strong but like anything else it's going to wear off eventually.

Q: If I have 18mm pins on the watch, do I order the 16mm or the 20mm? (I don't see an 18mm choice)

Obviously this is an old question but for the rest of us yes, the 20mm strap will fit in a watch w 18mm pins.
