With my city mandating that all food scraps go in the green bin, I decided it was time to upgrade my countertop composter. I used to have one of the traditional stainless steel canisters with a lid, but it was a little bit of a pain to use— I have very limited counter space, so I wouldn’t be sure where I could rest the lid while I cooked and if the bag ripped, the canister proved hard to clean. I am so glad I got this countertop composter instead! I love that the rectangular shape uses my counter space more efficiently and the removable inner bin makes it easier to empty and clean. I also love the options for wall mounting and hanging it over a cabinet to further save space. But what really shines is the lid! I have low cabinets, so being able to open the lid by pulling it toward me is a lifesaver. Plus, since the lid is attached, I am not having to worry about where to set it down anymore. If you have a small kitchen like I do, this is the composter for you!

It’s really very attractive (see photos) and well-made! It is big enough that I put a whole chicken carcass in it. (I apologize to non-meat-eaters for TMI) It has two different ways to open the lid - by flipping up (second photo) or by pulling forward and letting it drop downwards (Third photo). I use the drop down most of the time, because that way you don’t have to keep the lid out of the way while you are scraping plates, etc. It has an inside bin that pulls up and out and this holds the 2.5 gallon BioBag perfectly. The pull out factor allows me to wrap the bag slightly around the inside bin to keep it from showing on the outside. Because of the possible odor issue, I prefer to change out the bag every other day, at least. Moisture builds up and I don’t like having to wash out the inside bin too often. This little bin is a very creative innovation. I HIGHLY recommend it!

We have used it for about two months now so I cannot say much about longevity.However, it is convenient to use. The lid opens easily with the back of a hand and stays open so one can drop food into it. There is a plastic black inner sleeve that is used to contain the garbage. The sleeve has two pull holes, one on each side so you can pull it out to discard the garbage. The lid is double jointed so you pull it forward to pull out on the sleeve. I use compostable bags with it but they are a bit tricky to use with the plastic inner sleeve. My compost bags leak so there is often fluid in the black sleeve. You may want to find leak resistant compost bags to use with it. I wish the inner sleeve were made of stainless as well instead of black plastic. The liquid leaking from the bag stinks and somewhat imparts that smell to the black plastic. Cleaning obviously helps but not sure If I can get it all. It is somewhat taller and narrower than the original plastic garbage pail supplied by the waste company but I think we have gotten used to it. Good luck.

Perfect for my needs, didn't take up counter space, clean look, small 1.2 gallon compost bags fit the inner bin perfectly.

Hung it on my cabinet under my sink and can scrape plates into it. Not smelly and holds a good bit, reducing trips to the backyard compost pile. I like that it comes with bags, but I'm not sure if the bags are compostable.

Purchased this as a countertop compost bin. We used this with compostable liners. It seemed great at first. Keeps odors in, better than an open bowl of scraps. But it is NOT air tight. We would empty it out into our outdoor compost tumbler every couple days. However, the next thing we knew, we had a breeding ground for fruit flies in our kitchen. Looking for other options now.

The best kitchen waste bin I've ever used. It is more expensive than other but it deserve the price. It comes with the inner removable bin makes it easy to clean and you won't see the bag at all when the lid is close. The double side flip over lid is a big highlight for this product. You can either pull it down or lift it up. The size is perfect as a kitchen waste bin. Also, you don't even need to buy the trash bag, you can just use the grocery bag from the supermarket and they are good fit for the inner bin. I really love it.

Got these because they seemed to almost fit the Bag 2 Earth kitchen compost bags. The bags are *slightly* taller than the liner bin, but it's easy to fold down the bags by about a centimeter or two and then it's perfect. The two opening methods are awesome. Perfect for large amounts of scraps or just a quick open and toss one item sort of thing. Overall a fantastic bin!
