Cold Curses (Heirs of Chicagoland)

This was the ending I needed! After spending so long in Chloe Neill’s Chicago (13 books in the first series and then 5 in this one) I was hesitant to read this final book, because ending a series this long with such beloved characters isn’t easy. Thankfully Chloe nailed it perfectly and gave the characters an ending that didn’t disappoint and left me feeling happy with where they all are. Elisa was of course magnificent in this book and a wonderful main character to follow! She and monster really take the cake. If you haven’t read Chloe’s book I highly encourage you to check out Merit’s story and find out what being a vampire in Chicago is like. 😊

The children of the main characters of the Chicagoland series are picking up where their parents left off. The parents are mentioned often and are featured in this book. The supernatural community is alive and well in this series. A lot of fun to read. Unfortunately for me I tend to not put the book down and finish it too soon. I highly recommend this series.

Since developments and relationships span all five books, I recommend to read them in the intended order.ReviewIn the last installment, Elisa and her fellow Ombudsmen had to fight demons that could intrude because of destroyed wards around the city. The demons were slain, but the wards are still down, so the demons continue to pour into Chicago and wreak havoc. While the Ombudsmen and the CPD try to find legal and magical ways to go against the big baddie, in the shadows, so to speak, another enemy schemes. Which is hard for Elisa and the others to see, because they have to fight battle after battle while trying to investigate and get before the literal wave of demon hordes.Then there’s Elisa‘s personal problem concerning „monster“, the part of the Egregore residing inside her. It wants to get back with its other half and becomes more impatient by the day.So Elisa has a lot on her plate and that makes for a lot of fast paced action. You can actually feel how everyone is very tired and at times even desperate for fear that there is no way to reverse their situation and make Chicago a safe place again.I especially liked the resolution of the „monster“, the perpetrator and their backstory. I‘m sad to see Elisa, monster and Connor go, but loved how it was done in this final book of the series.

Another great book, im so sad there wont be anymore, The adventures of Elisa and Connor the pack and the Vampire houses have been such a part of my reading for the past years ive enjoyed the .series very much

Le dernier tome des aventures de Élisa , seul vampire née. Et de son loup .On attendait une clôture mais la déception est là, à l'image de la série même si plutôt bonne,c'est un peu poussif, certains fils sont résolus, d'autres apparaissent mais le final nous laisse sur la faim.ca aurait pu être beaucoup plus riche.J'i eu le même sentiment sur certains tomes des vampires de Chicago, un manque de je ne sais quoi, pour prendre le lecteur au tripes. Cela n'enlève rien à l'œuvre qui est plaisante à lire.Enjoy
