Clouds: the imagination's playground
I just finished reading Good Morning Clouds. It’s a lovely book. I picked it up for a 6-year old friend of mine, and we will read it together.Adults and children often forget to look UP. It’s sad, really, because looking up (where clouds play) is freeing and uplifting. The sky is a colorful, ever-changing spectacle. GM Clouds draws a child’s attention to this show. Clouds are not static—they change color; they change shape; they come in different forms; they move slowly or they race; they can fill up the sky or disappear altogether. Through delightful, short poems, GM Clouds points all this out to young minds, exposing them to that dramatic beauty that is UP, while stimulating imagination (“GM Clouds…will you fly higher if I sneeze?” “GM Clouds...Where did you go and what did you see, before you so kindly passed by me?”). Clouds--with all their individuality and wonder--become a child's friends.I plan to have my little cloud-explorer try to match what she sees in the sky on any given day to one of the many cloud-formation images/descriptions found in the book. On one of the pages, there is even a fill-in-the-blanks “Write Your Own Cloud Poem.” As a neuroscientist, I was thrilled to see this included, as it should encourage observation and creative-language use, elements important to cognitive development.Children want images to go with words, and a definite highlight of this publication is its charming drawings. Every poem in the book is accompanied by a delightful, delicate watercolor illustration of kids playing out-of-doors. The eye just wants to dawdle over these sweet, engaging scenes of fun activities under a cloud-dwelling expanse of sky!

A beautiful book sure to spark the imagination of it's reader
I purchased this book for the newest member of our family, my great-great-nephew. Although he's a bit young for it, I look forward to giving it to him. I was struck by the beauty of this book, in both words and illustrations. It reminded me of a game I used to play with my son when he was young and he would focus on a cloud and have it respond to his intention as to how it would move. The author captures the spirit of fun and joy that should be nurtured in every child and the adults who may have misplaced their own.Good Morning Clouds is a special book. I highly recommend it.

The book was fun and engaging. I enjoyed how the colors popped off of the pages, making the poems about nature even more fun to read. I also loved how multi-cultural children were represented throughout the book.

Good Morning Clouds is a must read for children!
The book " Good Morning Clouds" proved to be a delightful purchase. I have actually purchased two. One for a gift. One to keep for myself. The poems and illustrations complimented each other perfectly. It was thought provoking and would spark any child's imagination. The interactive feature of making your own cloud poem is a terrific bonus as well. It's the perfect way to entice children to use their own creativity and to really ponder the world of clouds. Linda Calabro and Sarada Marie are the perfect mother/daughter team. I am looking forward to many more fun and imaginative books for this duo!
