Jewelry Concepts and Technology

This is THE book
If you have have done a course or apprenticeship, this is the industry standard. Its every technique a jeweller will ever use..you can take it, adapt it, you can use it as a starting point or follow as described. This is the encyclopaedia of jewellery. If you want to explore techniques or have not yet found your game, this is the book for you. I would never recommend anyone just get a book and start making jewellery as there are many safety issues, but you wouldnt need much training before this book becomes usefull..in fact i dont know any jeweller who doesnt have a copy..or any course that doesnt include what is written in this book. Its the bible.

Everything about silversmithing you were afraid to ask
Yes its expensive but as an all round reference its better than trying to cover that ground in several other books. I have used it as part of a City and Guilds course in silversmithing. I bought it on offer with Amazon having had the local library copy roosting at my house for far too long, perhaps better for someone with a little practical experience hoping to sell and expand a hobby rather than a total newby.

A great book for jewellers and silversmiths.
Wow this book is very informative In terms of historical jewellery making and theoretical approaches to jewellery making. Although this is a considered purchase it is worth the money.

Lots of information and yummy, inspiring pictures
I've just rushed through this so just from skimming it I can say this was worth the not so small amount I paid for it.There's a lot of information and the pictures of all the historical, traditional, tribal jewellery and unusually creative examples are great.

She found it incredibly useful as reference for her dissertation
Bought this for my stepdaughter who is in her final year at Plymouth Uni - contemporary craft, specialising in glass and jewellery. She found it incredibly useful as reference for her dissertation, when she was struggling to find anything worthwhile before. Big and heavy but jam packed with info.

The DEFINITIVE manual for jewellery makers
This is perhaps the best book published for both hobby jewellers and accomplished craftsmen. It deals with this vast subject in a logical order, by specific technique, and covers virtually every aspect of materials, tools, fabrication and surface finish, including oriental methods. Every jewellery workshop should have this book. Period.
