this is a time saving product for patching
This is great stuff. I was expecting it to not work as well as advertised. I used it to fill around the cut-in for an old work box (electrical wiring), where I damaged the drywall a bit, and was expecting to have to use more than one coat. Nope! It may have shrank a little bit, but not much, so I didn't have to go back. This dried or cured in about 30 minutes, and was ready to paint. I used an old credit card to do the fill, and the texture match was fine to the flat paint. This is white, and since the outlet was in a utility room and the walls were white, I didn't even have to paint. The consistency is kind of weird, like spackle, but it holds together better, sticks a little better, and sets up much nicer. Very easy to work with, I didn't have to sand it, and I'm not coordinated enough to do that with regular spackle. Strong enough to work on the corner around an electrical box, but of course not strong enough for screw or device holding.I think if you work in the trades, other than new construction, and have to fix your own drywall dings, you need this stuff. It really does save time. For a homeowner, you can do the multi-step thing w/ any patch material - apply, wait, apply more, wait, , sand, prime, wait, paint, but this stuff saves a lot of that work.

excellent product but need much smaller sizes.
I can’t believe the handling I filled an area as thin as two layers of paint on my first attempt like I was a pro or something it’s wonderful

Amazing product for trim/molding and small hole repair. Doesn't shrink!
This product saves so much time. For trim work and small nail hole filling its ideal because it doesn't shrink, so only 1 application needed. Then lightly sand (wear a mask), vacuum leftovers, and can move on to paint. Goes on easy and the case keeps the product well (doesn't dry out over time). I like to use a small flat think putty knife to apply or for door/window moldings the finger works well to get in the gaps and corners.

Excellent product, not so excellent packaging.
Happy with the way it works. But it comes in a shallow tub that would be fine if you were going to use all of it immediately upon opening, but not so good if you want to use a little at a time over a long period, e.g., to patch a lot of small holes and dings here-and-there in you house. In the tub it separates into a too-watery part and a too-stiff part, so the instructions tell you to stir it before using, and you should. That characteristic would probably make hard for 3M to supply it in a squeeze tube, which is what would really be convenient for the use pattern that I bought it for.

This patch material is great
I've used DAP and Elmer's in the past, but I had tried one of those on a real bad area I had to fix because of moisture damage. I wasn't happy with the way it worked. Then I had a recurrence of the moisture damage which was even worse the 2nd time around so I went on a search and this was the one I decided to try. It's not quite as easy to work with as the others I've used, but not hard to work with either and did a fabulous job. I was afraid the sheetrock might have to be replaced, but this 3M Patch did a great job and that wasn't necessary. You can't even see where the damage was.

This is great for filling nail and screw holes prior to painting. Won’t shrink and sands smooth very quickly

Great When It's Fresh
1st EXPERIENCE:I recently bought one tub and found the texture to be great. It was light and fluffy, and spread very well. I was so concerned about it drying out that I (1) only accessed it by curling up one corner of the tub's lid. And (2) I'd shut it right away after each dip. And every now and then, (3) I inserted a mister nozzle and gave it a spritz of water. Further, (4) I kept the tub stored in a heavy duty zip-lock baggie. It took about a week to use it up on our project.2nd EXPERIENCE:Last night, I opened my newly ordered 2nd tub. To open, you have to snap off one lid corner so it can be removed. Then you also pull off the inner foil seal. Everything seemed fine. And then I my applicator hit a "wall." The product was 75% hardened against the lid, while the remainder was liquidy. I can't tell you the science behind how it both dried and liquified but it wasn't good. Just now, I opened the 2nd tub that came in this shipment and found the same problem. I say hardened, but I do not mean completely solidified in those parts. However, still unusable.DECISION:The lid is garbage in any case. The product will dry out extremely fast without misting and extra protection. And the inner foil seal didn't lock in moisture prior to opening. So if you do get a good tub, be prepared to protect it from moisture loss.I have requested replacement tubs. I'm hoping the next ones will be as good as the very 1st one. We'll see...Update 8/5/21:Just opened the 2 replacement tubs. This is ridiculous. Each was still sealed with their plastic lid tab, but there were no inner foil seals! So they’re about 75% hardened. Basically, even worse than before. I still hold to my comment on this being great when fresh. But there is no quality control here, whether lid seal or not, whether foil seal or not. They didn’t care to make this with any thing in mind but forcing the customer to consume as much as possible as fast as possible. Returning these - again. I don’t have time for this.

idiot proof - I can't believe the results from a novice like me
a friend who is a contractor recommended I try to spackle my laundry room walls myself before he came by to do some other prep work for me. He told me to get a wide spackle tool which I did - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099ZMP64H and get some spackle. The 3M spackle looked like a good choice since my 11 wall holes were about an inch big. I did one pass yesterday and my wife asked me where the holes were. I did a little more today but probably could have let it be without the light touchup. This stuff changed my attitude about spackling wall holes. I never was able to get this kind of result using standard wall spackle. Thanks 3M.
