USB C Hub 8 in 1 Ansbell USB Type C Adapter Dongle With HDMI Port,Gigabit Ethernet Port,Type-C Pass Through,3 USB 3.0 Ports,SD & Micro SD Card Reader USB-C For MacBook Pro 2017/2016(Gray)

I upgraded my MacBook Pro from a 2014 model to a 2018 model and lost the use of all my handy Thunderbolt adapters. So needed a USB-C hub and this device ticked all the boxes. It has Gigabit Ethernet, USB-C Power-Pass through, 3 x USB, HDMI, SD and Micro SD card reader. Performance of the device is great, I've had no issues. I did test the Gigabit ethernet with an iperf server I run locally and was getting around 940 Mb/s, which is almost perfect.The only downsides are:1) It gets hot. Even hotter if you plug your MacBook Pro USB-C charger cable into the USB-C port. So I generally don't plug it into the hub to keep it cool.2) It's a little messy with all the cables connecting to the hub, just a reality of the device I suppose3) You cannot plug a USB-C display into the USB-C port. So I have a monitor with a DisplayPort connection which turns into a USB-C connection. If I plug it directly into the MacBook Pro, it works perfectly. If I plug it into the hub, it doesn't work. I think this is by design of USB-C and Alt Mode, but if it had worked, I could of gotten all my connections to my MacBook Pro down to one cable, which is the dream of course.Those points aside, works great and would buy a replacement if I ever needed one.

One teeny tiny issue with this hub is that it gets very hot, even if only running one external hard drive through it. The temperature it reaches seems to be the same however many of the ports are being used, and it doesn't seem to cause any problems with the functionality of the product, so still a very good bit of kit.The colour is a very good match to the Space Grey shell of the current MBP.Very lightweight. Very portable.

I purchased this mainly for my MacBook Pro and it's lack of an ethernet cable and the dodgy WiFi in the building I work in. It works a charm for that and for my various charging cables. It also worked on my Galaxy Note 8, though not in DEX mode, however contemplating using it to go away with and leave my laptop and fire stick at home.

Lovely compact universal C hub which feels of great quality. Lots of ports, particularly good for me are the 4K HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet ports.I like that it has it's own C port to connect power and assume this is so it can pass the power through into a MacBook or Chromebook etc. As we see more devices equipped with super fast USB C this unit is going to become a essential piece of equipment to carry for travellers.All these C hubs have a very small connection cable, which I guess is perfect for a laptop but I'm using on a gaming PC and the C port is at the back of the PC which makes it difficult to access. A USB C extension cable may be a good option.I ordered the Grey option and it looks very smart! Overall, very pleased with the unit.

This accessory is well designed, however has a let down. It is incompatible in terms of providing enough power to run my external Mac SuperDrive to link with my MacBook Pro. Spent time with Apple Help to see whether it could be resolved, however the SuperDrive requires the Apple USB C to A connector to drive it

Second review of this piece of kit, it works well but gets a bit warm, I suspect this is due to the amount of data that is being transferred through it, USB C power for the laptop, HDMI for external 1440 monitor, ethernet, external drive USB 3 connected, 4 items transfering a lot of data seamlessly.I marked this 4 stars last review I now up it to 5 stars as I have had reassurance from the manufacturer that (as I thought) heat is normal and the device is covered for 3 years against mechanical failure, I look forward to daily use for as long as I will need it.I like this adapter, it looks smart and works well.

I know I have had this item 2 years but it has only been used a handful of times. The last was on Halloween. We had tested the projector with the computer via the adapter. Next day? Nothing. Projector fine, computer fine therefore it could only be the adapter. For something so rarely used I do expect it to last a bit longer than 2 years. I wouldn't buy again. My new one is via a different manufacturer.

Update: After contacting the seller I was offered a free replacement! Great customer supportThe product is smaller than I expected and looks really good. While it does the job of charging and extending to multiple monitors etc, the SD card slot did not work for me. It doesn't seem to hold the card in. There is no "click" when putting the card in. Will be replacing the product.
