These write smooth and have great colors, not too much glitter but shimmery. I have used this brand for years and highly recommend them.

Great gelly roll pens.
These pens are great for coloring books, dry really fast and do not smear. Love that they are retractable as well. The medium point size is perfect.

Pretty good.
White gel pen isn’t as smooth as the gold and silver. Have to write over the white lines several times to get it to fill in.

SPARKLE vs METALLIC vs STARDUST sets
UPDATE: Lowering to 3 stars. Right after I bought these I bought some of the regular removable cap ones to compare. Some of the older ones I have have lasted for years so I wanted to see! The new Amazon ones lasted about 3 months while the regular Sakura ones are still going strong. I wont buy these lower quality ones again as they last a tiny fraction of the time as a regular Sakura gel rollerball. I wanted to replace my Sakura Gelly roll glitter pens I've collected for the past 25 years or so after losing them in a fire. I couldn't tell which pack to get from the descriptions so I figured I'd write you all a key so you don't order a bunch of pens you don't want like I did! "SPARKLE" is a multi pack that is for the most part is made up of non-metallic and more importantly non- glittery pens! Don't buy the "Sparkle" pack unless you really want 4 plain blue and black ink pens. If you are a person buying glitter pens you likely don't. "METALLIC" is the sample on the right. They're always fine for everyday use but no big whoop. The pen caps are glittery. Way to make the new version of these pens even more confusing. "STARDUST" is the sample on the left. THIS IS THE GLITTER YOU WANT! Fine for everyday use but also super sparkly for when thats a thing you need. These have the pen caps that are all clear with a very subtle glitter in the plastic. Sakura - come on. These are the most confusing pens ever. Aside from the issues above the trompe l'oiel caps as the retraction button trompes my oiels every damn time. Everyone in my household struggles with the caps for a moment before we realize it's not a cap and swear while clicking. I dearly miss the old Sakura Gelly pens but will relegate myself to using the Stardust ones for everyday use for now. Please bring back real pen caps and stop messing with my family's perception of reality.

Honest Review
CLASSIC I originally purchased the classic colors(black, red and blue) at my local craft store and liked them so much that I decided to buy the 10 pack on Amazon, as it was much cheaper and had more colors that my store offered. NEW COLORS Honestly, the glitter and metallic colors blew me away! I think if I had to go back, I would have never purchased the classic colors though. GLITTER/METALLIC VS. CLASSIC The Glitter and Metallic colors are all very juicy, vibrant and do not skip literally AT ALL! 10/10. But the Classic colors, while they are gel pens, they write more like ball points pens and they do skip some. They are also not as juicy as the glitters and do not write as thick and do not glide on the paper as easily. I would honestly give them a 8/10 now that I have been spoiled by these new colors. I would give them a 7/10 but it is hard to find pens that do not bleed through paper. Good news is that the metallic and glitter also do not bleed through!(Video included) CONCLUSION If you are getting these for the classic colors, do not expect to be blown away. They are fine, good enough for me to be interested in buying more colors, but they are not as good as the metallic or glitter colors. If you are interested in the metallic/glitter colors you will not be disappointed, they are perfect! They do take longer to dry than the classic but it is worth it to me. THEY DO NOT BLEED THROUGH PAPER, which is amazing!!

These gel pens are a lot of fun to use. The pens are made in Japan with top notch quality materials. They write very smoothly and glide along the paper with ease. The colours are vibrant and fun and really pop out on the paper.

So, I got my hands on this 10-pack of Sakura Gelly Roll Retractable Gel Pens, and let me tell you, it's like the Cadillac of gel pens. We're talking the classic colors here—black, blue, and red, the holy trinity of penmanship. These bad boys glide across paper like an Olympic figure skater on ice. The medium point is just right—not too fine to feel like I'm scratching a message onto a stone tablet, and not too bold that it looks like I'm practicing for a graffiti art competition. And retractable? Oh, the joy of not losing caps and finding them later in the washing machine, slightly chewed by the household gremlin. Writing with these pens is so smooth, it's almost therapeutic. I find excuses to jot things down. Grocery list? A sonnet of produce. Notes? A symphony in ink. And that satisfying click-click when you retract the pen? Music to my ears. Would I recommend them? In a heartbeat. Whether you're signing autographs, penning your memoirs, or just doodling away during a particularly long phone call, these Sakura Gelly Rolls are the trusty sidekick you never knew you needed. Just be warned: your other pens might start feeling a bit neglected.

I love Sakura gel pens and have been using them for a while. The ink in these pens is as expected with the brand. Flows easily and coveres well. It is very convenient to be able to go over the area again after the ink dries, which it does fairly quickly. After the ink is dry it has a very solid appearance. I actually prefer the retractable pens versus the pens with caps. I really appreciate that all pens produce the same line thickness. I use them for colouring. The pic I shared is of quick unfinished page, however, it allows you to see how vibrant the colours are produced by these pens.

I’m a professional artist and I’ve been using Gelly Roll pens for over a decade. They are the best pens for artists, crafters, and those who love to journal. They have always been pricey, but you’re getting quality pens from a well-known and much loved brand in the arts and crafts community. When you purchase them in sets like this, it is sometimes a bit cheaper than buying them individually which is what I’ve done in the past. It’s best to keep your eyes peeled for deals, but with this set priced at $2.59 per pen, you’re actually saving 33 cents per pen if you buy individually like I have done. I have quite the collection, but what is great about this set is they have the classic pen colours which I don’t have. Now that I tested them all out, I realized I don’t have any of the other colours either except for white and silver. I have several white pens because I use them a lot as they are great for discreetly correcting mistakes when I’m colouring handmade greeting cards with alcohol markers, or adding cute white freckles and highlights to my character designs. ✅WHAT I LIKE: ▪️I wish this set was available to me YEARS ago. They included excellent colour options in this set. You get the classic colours, gold, silver, white, purple, pinks, and blues. All of these are my favourite. ▪️My Happy Planner looks pretty with the new colours! I’ve taken a liking to the purple pen in particular and have been using it a lot. The black and purple are my go to as of late. ▪️Glides beautifully on paper as always. ▪️Archival inks which make them perfect for art pieces. ▪️Adds beauty to my artwork and greeting cards!🥰 ❌WHAT I DON’T LIKE: ▪️The fake lids are toying with my brain. I've only ever owned non retractable Gelly Roll pens. Since I am so used to using the other style for so many years, I keep trying to pull the lids off of these pens, until I clue in that the lids are actually a retractable push button style and permanently glued on.😳 It’s a small inconvenience, but darn it, it continually tricks me every time! *shakes fist! 🦋OVERALL: If you’re a crafter, artist, or someone who loves to journal, these are a must for your creative collection. If you have never tried Gelly Roll pens before, you’ve been missing out! Outside of this set, they also make pastel colours and a ton of glitters which I use to accent my homemade greeting cards. They’re fantastic for incorporating into my artwork and I enjoy using the pens rather than other messier or time consuming options. You get precise placement when using their pens and it looks great, plus they are archival! These pens in particular are a nice starter set because they give you a little sample of everything, yet it’s no where near what they have to offer. Try them out, and increase your pen arsenal with their other collections. You won’t be disappointed with how wonderful they glide on paper projects. They also last for years too! I still have a couple from the first collection I ever bought. So they’re worth it!😃

Arrived quickly. These markers are great for fine detailing in watercolour paintings. Also great for doodling. Writing up certificates... anything fancy if you like a bit of glitter.
