I know what you’re thinking. Should I replace mine or just make it work? I mean it works most of the time, right? Well here’s the thing friends…paper clips, bondo, chewing gum (if that’s your thing), extra washers, or rubber bands, is only gonna hold up so long. My point of no return was when the micro switch went out. I noticed the yellow “service” hub not spinning correctly either. I was unsure because honestly between eating and swapping out the F-N-R switch on a UTV is probably the last thing on your mind right? Make the plunge! My motto is “the right tool for the right job” but unless you are 3D printing this thing from scratch it’s gonna take you a while to carve this outta wood. The toughest part of the deinstall was getting the old handle OFF. I ended up using my portable grinding tool to cut off the shaft. After that I installed the new unit, matched up screw to screw hole, and wire to wire. Although slight changes from the original unit I’m guessing they are an improvement so time will tell, but Guess what? When you put it in Forward or Reverse it starts like a champ and the best part is the gears don’t grind! Who knew? It looks like it’s ramen for a couple of weeks though…
