desertcart.com: (2 Packages) Weco Wonder Shell Natural Minerals (3 Pack), Small - Total of 6 Shells : Pet Supplies Review: Great for Mystery Snails! - My mystery snails love these. Review: I thought it was a gimmick - but they actually work - Was struggling with easy to keep, beginner, low light plants dying back hard. Good light & plant tabs didn't help. Only plants and snails in the tanks. A site about snails explained how helpful these shells are for snails health - that was my main purpose in buying them - I wasn't even thinking about their benefit for the plants. I have been happy to see my struggling plants are showing more green since adding these. Various parts of the tank sporadically throw off random oxygen bubbles in the first days of adding the shells. Snails are zooming around. Plants greening up. Water went clear in less than 24 hours (had been very slightly clouded). If you're interested in the science behind these, look up a man named Carl who runs Everything Aquatic online - he has tons of scientific data on these going back decades. After reading that, I will switch to buying from them from now on to support their good efforts at educating us on the proper use of these shells (Check his information on wrong ways to use them to save yourself trouble by the way. You could add too many too fast for some certain creatures for example.) PS: Great for tiny bowls too - I have many globe shaped bowls that hold about a cup of water each - tiny plants, sand, stones, tiny bladder snails, and I broke the smallest shells into a few piece for those "tanks"- just fantastic. Between the snails and these shells, the tiny tanks are much more visually appealing.)

Swell shells
If youโre someone like me that keeps shrimp, itโs imperative you have the correct water perimeters to satisfy your shrimp. Anyway, these help a ton when it comes to giving them enough calcium to successfully molt. And, yes, does seem to encourage breeding behaviors. (At least from my anecdotal perspective. They seem to be more โactiveโ after a shell has been placed.) For my 7 gallon aquarium, I prefer to use a smaller sized shell every few weeks when I do a partial water change. It takes about a week or so for it to fully dissolve. Donโt skip on the Wonder Shells! They really are wonderful!

very helpful for my nerite snail
i rescued a lethargic nerite with a small crack in his shell, presumably from falling off of something. after using this, the crack is still there as it'll never really fully close, but it has stopped getting larger and the snail looks like he's acting more normal now :)

Works for parameters, but not for a calcium supplement
I've used this in my 5 gallon betta tank for about a month now and I have noticed a difference with it helping keeping the water parameters in the tank more neutral; however, I haven't noticed too much of a difference to my mystery snail's shell. He was forming a ridge along his shell and I bought this hoping that it might do a better job than the cuddle bone method. It works, but it's not an 100% cure. I will still use them to help balance out the water hardness in my tanks though. I would highly reccomend testing your tanks water parameters before adding this to your tank as well as testing after. I can see how this could potentially kill fish and snails if the tank is unbalanced.

Perfect for my nano tank
I love buying these to stock up on calcium sources for my aquarium snail/shrimp tank. It's a very small tank, 5 gallons, so dropping one or two in there helps to keep them healthy and happy.

So great!!!
I have mystery snails and making sure they have enough calcium in the water is important to ensure their shells don't crack, get weak, or grow poorly. Note - this doesn't excuse not providing a good diet as well! These wonder shells work great. Just drop it in (no they don't get eaten they just release things into the water that help snails and shrimp have strong shells and outer crustacean structures. I burn through these things fast in all of my tanks but they are worth it. Been using them for a long time and never had any issues! HIGHLY recommend.
