Encouraging Leaders to Encourage Team Members
Ashlin provides the reader with helpful and logical advice for encouraging leaders not only to know how to lead but to encourage team members to be, one day, a leader. Too often, leadership techniques appear to be crafted to motivate team members to follow the lead of the leader. The value of Ashlin's leadership methodology is to train and transform followers to be tomorrow's leaders. The leadership behavior that may be lacking in the business world and also within the life of any non-profit is to see everyone as a potential leader. Ashlin identifies the qualities of both leader and team member as being indispensable for an organization to remain honest about its purpose and attaining its goals. "Leading the Way" is a straightforward read for a number of reasons but especially due to the way Ashlin offers her experience in credible and practical ways.

This leadership book stands out above the others. A must read.
I have read a number of leadership books but this is the ONE book that I consider to be my go-to reference book. Each chapter addresses a particular behavioral trait essential to great leadership. Woven into each chapter are real life examples that bring the lessons to life and allow the reader to envision and recognize effective vs. ineffective leadership behaviors. Each time I pick up the book and read an excerpt I'm reminded that behaviors can be changed, learned and adapted to fit a particular situation, subsequently resulting in a more successful outcome. Ashlin's style is encouraging and practical.

It makes perfect sense, but leaders often forget how important it ...
You've heard the upside-down adage, "Do as I do, not as I say"? It makes perfect sense, but leaders often forget how important it is as a core tenet of leadership success. Leadership is a behavior. When we do the things the way we want others to do them, we set an example, and - with intent and consistency - others follow our lead. Leading: The Way explains this commonsensical premise and provides practical guidance on how to adopt leadership behaviors that have positive impact on organizations and individuals. It is a must-read for current and aspiring leaders across all industries!

A must read for sure!
Leading: The Way is perhaps the most compelling effective leadership book I have read. There isn't a dry page in this book. Nicely balanced, each leadership principle is coupled with a solid example; told through the lens of a story. I found myself in the shoes of the individuals Ashlin writes about. The situations, their behavior, and the anticipated result; leading me to where I need to examine my own leadership style. A must read for sure!
