THis is a versatile beast
Been using this for a few weeks now and I'm impressed. I've used it for a wide range of activities from cutting up logs to copper pipe in very restricted locations. It's big and heavy but comfortable to use. On occassion there's been some significant vibration but that's not the saw it's the substrate - advice - wear shock-absorbing fingerless gloves. Blade change is just so easy but make sure the shaft position is suitably extended when you turn the saw off. Particularly like the way the blade can be located to saw upwards or downwards. The former is the position I've used to cut (with care) in confined or restricted situations. Saw speed is control by the trigger - pity they didn't include some sort of fixed speed control switch/limiter. Had my last one (Bosch) for many years until the shaft broke - Apparently Bosch don't make an equivalent anymore - so I bought the Hitachi. I hope it lasts as long as the Bosch - so far so good. I only gave 4 stars because I have no experience of longevity - could go to 5 if it beats the Bosch in life.

Great deal and a great saw!
Bought for £66.67 from Amazon Warehouse Deals (s.a.r.l) was described as open box. It arrived brand new, fully boxed with all instructions and accessories (1 blade). A great deal and the saw performs very well. Used it to cut out roots of an old cherry tree, some of which were 6" to 7" in diameter. Had to buy longer blades at 25cm but you can get them as long as 30cm if needed.Bought this instead of an electric chain saw as I thought it would be safer. Only let down is it does not have a safety switch i.e. saw comes on as you press the trigger. Picked it up off the ground a few times and accidentally caught the trigger starting the blade.Great that you can use it in the garden and also for DIY in and around the house. So for me beats a chainsaw.Recommended.

Lasted 2 years of moderate use
Had this for 2 years and used every month or so for cutting up wood for log burner when I didn't want to use the chain saw due to risk of old nails etc. Recently failed completely due to a bearing falling part and internals moving out of place and being damaged as a result. 2 years work for £100+ machine probably not terrible these days but certainly not impressive. I will replace with another make.

Great Saw
This saw all the time and it's great and has never let me down. If you are looking for a saw I would certainly recommend this one. Update - So I have now had this saw for 5+ years and it has never let me down. I have used to to extremes to the point where I would have thought it would have broken and yet it just keeps going. I use it regularly and it has never let me down. It's by far the best tool I own. Although it's worth noting that buying good blades also helps, Bosch blades cost more but last 10 times longer than others.

good but very vibratory
Saw seems well made but should be supplied with a better, more universal blade. Saws wood and metal very well but more vibration than expected. Had to purchase anti vibration gloves to make it more comfortable. Plenty of power in reserve and should last years, typical Hitachi quality.

Four Stars
Goods as described, delivered promptly. Noisier and more vibration than expected but does the job.

Worst tool ever bought
Absolute beast of a machine. Not for the professional user as a very rough and heavy machine with loads of vibration.Made for King Kong not a ballerina.Waste of money with De-Walts, Bosch etc so much more advanced on the market and for less or the same money.
