Hyde Contour Scraper with 6 Changeable Blades, Multicolor - 10450

Good, versatile scraper.

Used this to remove old paint from my elaborate porch. Coped well with all the nooks and crannies. Blades are now rather blunt, but tool did a great job. Would recommend.

I’ve been using the Hyde Contour Scraper with 6 changeable blades and it’s genuinely a handy tool for many jobs. The angle of the handle combined with the blade variety means I can get into awkward corners, trim up edges and scrape off old adhesives or paint with more precision than a straight‐handled scraper. What I really like: The multiple blades suit different tasks — fine detail work, broader scrapes — and the detachable system means you can switch quickly. The contoured handle gives good grip and allows access at tricky angles that rigid scrapers struggle with. It’s well priced for a 6-blade set, especially if you value flexibility. A suggestion for improvement: While the included blades cover many situations, I would love to see smaller and larger format blades included (for example an ultra-narrow blade for very tight crevices, and a much wider blade for larger flat surfaces). That expansion would make this tool even more versatile. Also, the multicolour design is practical (easy to pick out in a busy tool box) but doesn’t impact performance — just a minor aesthetic note. Overall verdict: If you’re looking for a scraper that gives more flexibility than the typical single-blade model, the Hyde Contour Scraper is a very solid choice. With the addition of extra blade sizes it could become a go-to all-round scraper for almost any job. For now, it covers most of what I need — for the price, I’m impressed.

I really like the variety (shape and size) of easily changeable blades. However, the blades are not held tight but loose and wobble during use (but have not actually fallen off during use). The looseness is because closing the lever does not pull the gripping 'pin head' hard against the blade. Perhaps mine is defective and others might be fine, but I didn't bother returning it.

I love tools like this. They make paint stripping of awkward and, sometime, intricate places so much easier. Easy to use, comfortable to hold. It will pay for itself numerous times over. It's already been useful when stripping years of old paint from Edwardian window frames and its next task will be the staircase spindles followed by a lot of architraves.

A very useful tool

I found this tool on a Thursday night, I was starting the job to scape 90 year old crown molding on Saturday. Came Friday delivery and this WAS THE TOOL! If I hadn't discovered this I would have given up. Every other too I had for this job failed. Wire Brush, heat gun, generic flat scrapers... FAILED. I was a little heavy handed and it definitely gouged the wood a bit, but I'm repainting them and it's going to look way better than it did before! Being able to change blades easily is a game changer. Took me 6 hours to scrape a 9x12 room, but removing and replacing the molding would have probably taken me as long. The release handle is a little hard to open. I think, say my wife, would have trouble opening it to change blades. All in all, great stuff!
