A useful kit to have when working with vehicles and fasteners, easily repair damaged threads on bolts or in holes.I often find myself getting the dies out to clean the paint off threads after the bodyshop guys paint over the threads on a new part before fitting.

Very good compact set

I have now cut a couple of hundred threads in mild steel and some in stainless steel. There were no breakages and they are still sharp. I think that it is important to always use a cutting lubricant/compound when cutting the thread. I like the split design of the dies as it allows some adjustment of the clearance in the finished thread. I didn’t use the wrenches supplied so can’t comment on those, but I can highly recommend the taps and dies.

I would not buy this again or recommend it. The metal case is terrible; the bits don't fit well, and the handle, gauge, and dies just fall out and are not held in place, even when the case is closed. The handle is not fit for purpose. It is not good quality, it doesn't adjust properly or easily and does not hold the bits straight or securely. I generously gave it 3 stars because the bits did cut well. There are three different cutting bits for each size; one for starting, one for a second tap, and one final one for bottoming. I'm not sure how accurate the sizes are because I only needed to use the bottoming (final) one and it quickly and easily made a thread into a block of steel. I did use cutting fluid though. I only bought this one because i needed next day delivery and this seemed to be the 'best' one available for next day delivery. I'm glad it did do the. I am going too look for another set for future use.

Comes in a well made metal box and looks quality.Purchased as a Christmas gift for my 22 year old grandson who has just gained an Engineering Degree.Saw my grandson again today but he still hasn't needed to use them, so cannot comment on how good they are in the workshop.
