Oppenheimer - The Series [DVD]

Great TV series
I remember watching this series back in 1980 and that I enjoyed it at the time. Having wasted three hours of my life enduring the utterly terrible, noisy and overblown Christopher Nolan film, I was eager to see this again and it does not disappoint. Given that this was made as a TV drama, the limitations of the technology and maybe the budget, I think this is a good effort production wise and the cast far more believable than the characters in the recent film. The plot is much easier to follow and better paced, well they did have the luxury of seven episodes at about an hour each. It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea of course but it works for me!

NOT the Christopher Nolan film
Just a heads up for any customers that this is NOT the Christopher Nolan Oppenheimer movie, this is the 1980 BBC miniseriesI admire the audacity of the BBC to reissue the series with a cover that totally isn't designed to look like the movie poster

Spectacularly dishonest cover art
As other reviewers have pointed out, this product is NOT the 2023 masterpiece by Christopher Nolan but, instead, a 1980 BBC miniseries. How this was EVER allowed to be sold with that spectacularly dishonest cover art beggars belief and must surely constitute a breach of trading standards.

Very misleading cover art
The original artwork looks nothing like this, but they obviously thought about ripping off Christopher Nolan's poster when that became a huge movie, following Barbenheimer.

Wer eine wirklich gute und nicht aufgeblasene, aber lange Verfilmung des Stoffes sehen will - DAS ist zu empfehlen.

Great series plays in Australia
Remember watching this back when originally broadcast. Great to see again in tandem with the recent movie. BBC have obviously re-issued as a tie-in with the Nolan movie given the new packaging. Note:These DVDs are region 2 & 4 and therefore will play on Australian & NZ systems without issue.
